I am trying to upgrade a Xbox Hard drive for a friend. I tried to use xboxhdm but I found out the drive doesn't support the ATA security spec. I am trying to use Chimp but experiencing problems. Firstly, I followed tje tutorials in terms of opening the xbox, using the molex splitter, launching the chimp app then unplugging the cable then plugging it into the new drive. However I always get a completely green screen then nothing. I have used chimp in the past with no issues at all. If I try to swap just after the boot screen and then launch the app, it just says application launching and just sits with that message on the screen and does not change. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

The xbox you are trying to chimp is a 1.6 so you will need to telnet in to it.

God knows in the last year chimp and soft mods are all any one is using, i was almost sure that since the xbox is dead you would see a point ware chips would sell for like 15 and 20 bucks so dealers could get rid of what they got but it looks like I'm still waiting on that. LOL _________________

Well i must admit that lately every xbox that ive fixed has been a softmod.
If only they were mod-chipped..?!? lol. I could have just whacked in good old AID..
Ill be experimenting with chimp this weekend. Any other new programs available that i should know about or is chimp fine?
I suppose i could just do it my normal way using my modchipped machine to lock the drive with the correct keys and stuff but chimp sounds interesting.
thanks for any input all,
hobbs

Nope, chimp should take you ware your going unless its a 1.6 then you get to brush up on the telnet skills. _________________

Yep, guide is in the usual place under my sig and should see you clear. Like wes says, if its a v1.0 - v1.5 it'll be a breeze to go through and get you upgraded in no time. If it is the ever-helpful 1.6 box, then, unless you want to use XboxHDM, you'll be telnetting the chimp program to get it to work. Guide for that is at the bottom of my Chimp guide.
