ok, a few weeks ago my controller 1 port would work for five minutes and then stop. i would have to unplug the controller and plug it back in and it would work for another 5 minutes. rinse and repeat.
so i got fed up and switched the 1-2 controller ports with the 3-4. and suprisingly 2-4 worked fine and now the 1st controller port wont work at all.
and the way my emulators are set up you have to be the first player to navigate through them/play them.
so i was wondering how to fix this. no wires seem loose, and ive tried pretty much everything.
(yes ive tried switching the ports back/ ports from another xbox. still only the 1st one wont work...at all)
i have evox and a mod chip (dont know wich one) and i have a switch to turn it off. the controller still wont work with it off so its not that.

Welcome to the XBOX-HQ, we hope you enjoy this and all the other HQ sites we have to offer.
You might want to go over your traces with a magnifying glass, sounds like a brake in them some ware. _________________ XBMC SVN guide

Possible m'board problem too maybe. If your ports and chip look fine then you may be looking at a loose connection further down the wire, either at the traces as wes said, or the board itself.
i didnt, but i bought the xbox from a friend and he said the port was sketchy for a while. and it didnt completely stop working till i pulled it out so i might have loosened something. ill check it tonight and let you guys know

I have seen a many a guys just jam in the connector and bend the pins so make sure to unhook the ports and check for that. _________________ XBMC SVN guide

no i have not edited anything. it just stopped working when i switched ports.
and there seems to be nothing loose or anything
also my xbox does not look like the one shown, it has an upright chip connecting the 1/2 and 3/4 ports on the motherboard thing and i connect the ports the controllers connect to to the chip. so the chip acts like some sort of bridge

Yeah that would be a 1.0 or 1.1 with the daughter board for the control ports. _________________ XBMC SVN guide

He might also have a faulty controller port. Try switching controller port 4 with number 1 and see if that fixes the problem. Then we can go from there. _________________
