I am running a softmodded V1.4 Xbox with the T3CH SVN 2008-01-13 Build. Ever since I can remember (say last 10 builds), I've always had a problem with very different volume levels between say DVD's, Internet Radio and CD. For DVD's, I normally need the XBMC volume on 0dB but for most Internet Radio stations, this level is way too high saturating the output making the sound level fade in and out. I need to use the 3 & 6 digits on the remote to back off the volume when playing Internet Radio. This is a pain in the butt.

Has anyone seen this problem? Is there a fix?

ive never had this. are you outputting to a home cinima/surround or using the optical? i just go via my t and never had that issue.
ive a friend that uses the phono outputs to his sterio. and that always seems ok also.

whats your setup?

Its a fact that audio as recorded and played back at different levels. but ive never had clipping issues unless ive got it up really loud.

its always possible your surround/tv has poor amplification.

Any more info would be cool.

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I've got a component adapter with optical and line audio but I'm just using the RCA line ouputs straight into my TV. I've also just tried the standard XBOX cable over the weekend and I get the same result.

Any DVD's, Xvids or Divx videos play correctly with the XBMC volume set at 0db (no clipping). If however I change to My Music, all CD's and Internet Radio stations come booming out with the audio sounding saturated and clipped (not distorted). If I turn the XBMC volume down, I can go all the way down to -12db without any significant volume reduction but the audio stops saturating. The best volume for CD's and Internet Radio seems to be in the range of -20db to -12db but if I now jump back to My Video's, the volume level is too low.

This is most frustating and beyond my wife's XBMC capabilities which certainly limits the appeal of the solution.

Has anyone else seen this?
