I've had this link forever and we all know they have been sold out for the longest time.

http://www.xboxrepairguide.com/64mb-memory-chip-p-769.html

Does anyone know where to get a set of these in the US for a decent price? If so, let me know. I'm gonna try to do this mod.

Darth has given me the confidence to do it.

Sorry about that link. Evidently, xboxrepairguide.com has gone down. Maybe their server crashed or seomthing. I hope that's all it is, and not that they have shut down the site for good. Anyways, that's where the link led, but obviously it doesn't work. You should all know what chip set I speaking of though. So If you have any ideas on where to find some give, me a shout.

I would troll ebay and wait for a broken motherboard/xbox. You can probably get the ram chips cheaper that way. It does take a bit more work removing the ram, but it's worth it.

That you involve the seller having to have already performed the upgrade.

That sure doesn't sound right does it.

no, i meant salvage the ram chips off a broken board. Not really sure what you meant... Like buy a fragging board for 15 dollars... then take the ram off yourself...

So are you saying that anyof them will work. I'm talking about the four chips that add the extra 64mb of RAM to it. Allowing my N64 emu to run more smoothly. Is this what you are talking about? I'm thinking that I have to buy a set of them. I have six XBOXs and have never seen what I am looking for in them.

I meant that the seller I would buy the bad board from, would have to have a board that already had the mod done to it. Otherwise, there would be not point in buying another board. See what I'm saying?

All motherboards have ram. Just take 4 chips off a fragging board, and solder them into the 4 empty spaces on your 1.0-1.5 version motherboard, and you have a ram upgrade. There are no special chips you need to do this upgrade. The empty spaces to the top, and to the right, are where you need to solder the ram chips.

The ram chips on my broken xbox are being bitches to take off, so if you can find some by themselves it would be easier.

Yeah, I've been keeping up with your mod Darth. I remember what you were telling me about the last chip snapping. That's why I'm hoping someone knows another source for the chips. I'm pretty much on the same level soldering wise. I have done some mods to my box, but not nearly this many small solder points. I' think I'm up for it though. It's my only option.

Thanks Impwiz. I had no idea that they were the exact same. Then that's what I will do. I guess I'm gonna need some trashed boards. But wouldn't there be a chance that the chips are burnt too? I can always ask the seller of an Ebay auction what exactly went wrong huh?

I found a guy who said he'll sell me two scrap boards for $25. I'm gonna buy them and try to get them off. I figure it will prolly be over a week before I even get them in my posession. I will definitely let you know how the progress goes. DarthT33Bagger said he got them all off, but one. He broke the last one trying to unsnap it.

Wow, an 8 year old topic unearthed, lol.

However.... I'm curious

I took a gander at Ebay auctions. I see 1 in particular that is advertising Android as being added to the OS.... I must have been gone too long, lol. Is this true???? Is it possible to run android apps on my old Xbox these days?

PS.... I actually do have extra vergin ram chips stocked with a few mod chips left, lol.
