Heyyy,

I got one of those old Thomson dvd-drives on a v1.0 Xbox...
they don't read everything...

so I 've added a dummyfile (made with DummyFile.exe to any size, then rar'ed it) with the AID ISO updater tool to those smaller ISO's and burned with DVD-decrypter,
and in fact that makes quite the difference!

but I was wondering, how do most burning-software prioritize the files?
cause that dummyfile needs to be written first, so that the gamefiles are
more at outer tracks of the disc, which makes it easier and faster readable for the dvd-drive,

also I've read that an Xbox disc is read from the outside to the inside (opposite of pc dvd-drive, and that the disc spin in opposite direction compared to pc dvd-drive), that first thing makes sense why the benefit of dummyfiles,

anyone other ways of adding dummyfiles to an ISO?

I also wonder about this:
if you make an ISO with isoripper, it actually makes an image by copying sectors of the disc (and not the files), and it splits it after 4gb, so in this case the inner tracks of the disc are the empty ones? so this would be like having dummyfiles on it (since most games are just around 3gb or less),

thanks,

Regards!

I found when makeing an iso for lets say a bios the dummie file can be anything that takes up space with out .xbe in the name such as, my first X-2 i flased via cd-r and for a dummie file i used an avi burn of a movie so the disc wold be used for more then flashing and then chucking it out.
I find that the dummie file can be placed anywhare and is just there to make the disc big enuff to be seen by the dvd drive.
If im right the aid iso comes with a dummie file maker but when burning it to cd r you dont seem to need one since it takes up a lot of space on a cd but not a dvd.

For small games I usually just use Craxtion 4 and create a multi game disc and throw a few games on one DVD-R so it takes up more space on the disc.
