Hey everyone,
when I place a larger hard disk,
I clone the hdd with WinHex,
now when I placed the new hard drive (which I cloned with a hdd of a v1.6 crystal Xbox from 2004), into a black v1.0 XBox from 2002, I noticed that in hardware information the serialnumber and manufacturing date are the one of the v1.6 from 2004!?
is that information stored in some sectors of the hard drive that are not formatted by AID (I thought that would be in eeprom or other chip?)?
the xbox and bios version are indicated correctly though,
strange, haven't really noticed that with other new hdd I placed in past (but didn't really check that, I think),
I guess I found a way to rejuvenate an XBox,
like winding back the kilometers of a car, lol,
anyone an explanation for this?
my serialnumber can't be banned or something in another box in this way?
but no problem cause there's no XBox Live for the old XBox anymore? or is there? (don't know, never had live)
Kind regards &
take care!

Wow thats a new one to me and i never check that info on mine but when i get a sec ill go see if mine do the same thing.
switched softmod to Kingroachs Ndure installer &
installed latest XBMC, now everything matches with original values,
but from now on I'm going to install larger hdd with Chimp (if the Xbox is not a v1.6), cause that worked fine, the cloning of the hdd's maybe little slower, but the locking is much faster (used to fill in password manually with hdlock...),
take care &
Regards!

Took a look at my HDD info out of curiousity. The serial number and all that is from the current hdd, but under the install date its listed as being 1-1-1601 lol _________________
lol, got that too with a Maxtor 120gb from 2003,
