"AAaarrrgggghhh, help me Pezzar! ", i hear you cry. What is it these days i'm always bailing you guys out . "I want to load a hacked bios and gain more control of my xbox. " you say. Now, now settle down my sibblings 'cos daddies tut time is here again . Thanks to the guys @ Phoenix and EvolutionX its quite simple (big shout to those guys)
What you need is the Metoo M8plus Bios loader. You have 3 files and they are
boot.cfg
an Evox M8plus bios image for xbox v1.0 -v1.6 (must be M8Plus bios ROM)
default.xbe
First thing to do is edit your M8Plus bios using Evtool and set it just the way you want (dash boot paths, partition layout, LED's ,etc). You can have the bios boot any dash from any location you wish just make sure to set the xbe name and path when using EVTOOL. Check my tut at the following link for help with EVTOOL
Once the bios is configued open up the "boot.cfg" in wordpad. The head section looks so,
Code:
# PBL Metoo Edition configuration file
# This is the bios image file loaded at boot. It is loaded from the same
# directory default.xbe is in.
Romfile Metoo-M8plus_16-67-EF.bin
# This is an alternative bios image. If you define it, it will be loaded
# when you boot your Xbox with the DVD-tray open.
The line detailing the Romfile is what you need to change. My bios ROM file is called "M8Plus-67-16.bin", so i would edit the line to read
Code:
Romfile M8Plus-67-16.bin
now make sure that all 3 files are loaded to the same directory on the xbox and when you run the default.xbe the new bios will load replacing the stock M$ bios previously in memory. Job done, if using a softmod then replace your current evoxdash.xbe with the metoo xbe file (rename it from default.xbe to evoxdash.xbe) and make sure the dash that the bios will boot actually exists (put the dash files in place first). When you start your xbox, the original evoxdash.xbe would boot the softmod but the new evoxdash.xbe you loaded will launch the PBL and this will boot the M8Plus bios ROM, this will then load the dash you chose. If you get a blank screen because the dash file cant be found just insert AID disc and use the file explorer to move/install dash files then reboot
No spoon feeding, no secret death moves or tricks it really is too simple for that.
Good luck
WARNING!! what ever you do don't reboot the xbox without making sure the evoxdash.xbe is present (which ever one you want to use), you will render the xbox unbootable. You have been warned!!

The softmod I use has a folder named dash and inside it has default.xbe. No worries I got it workin man I just erased the dash that was in there and made sure the bios pointed to atleast two dashes to make sure it found one and installed it as default.xbe and everything worked fine. On a side note I was gonna restore it back to the OG mod it had and ended up gettin error 13 so I had to break out xboxhdm and redo my C: \ drive. O well just more xboxhdm practice. _________________

Yep everything works fine. So for further reference if your softmod has a folder in the E:\ drive named "dash" etc.. just delete the dash thats in there and replace it with the PBL files and make sure that the xbe is named default.xbe unless you have the evoxdash.xbe like pezzar's tut has. BTW thanks for the info to get me goin in the right direction pezzar I've been tryin to get PBL on my v1.6 forever. _________________
