Where to begin. OK i got a xbox from ebay that is loading slow but from what ive seen, has never been softmodded. So i try to begin softmod by updating dash and i can't. it keeps saying to check if the disc is dirty/damaged. So i go to xboxscene and someone tells me to first get an old exploit(PBL,UDE2) and put that on my xbox then ftp to get an updated softmod. I use UDE2 via Ltools MA 1.75. It installs but doesn't go to evox like some tuts say it should. So i try to uninstall, it goes to some screen and freezes and like a dumbass, i turn the xbox off. Now when i try to reinstall using MA, the game gets stuck on the 3 robots standing there. So i went and bought SC and going to attempt again. Now befor I screw up any further, Here are my questiions: 1)Is there a easier way to do this w/o hotswapping? 2) If i try to use this Ltools SC file, will i screw up my box further? 3)Is ther a way to save my Ltools MA exploit to use it again? 4)How do i add the dash updates to my AR memcard becuz i tried and i don't have enuff space if i use Ltools SC. If the xbox has ever played a game from november 2004 or later, or you bought it after then, then the dash is updated to the newest one. You don't need to update anything so just get that other thingy you got off and softmod it with SID 5.01 _________________

It still has a 4952 dash number. i thought ihad to update to 5980 to do newer softmods.

Heres what you do to update your ms dash.... Toss in a newer game. unplug your ethernet cable if its plugged into the back, and select the sign into xbox live option or whatever. This should update your dash. _________________

Gripz is right on the money its the best way to do it and ez as hell.
I never could figure out why folks with modded xboxes even care about an updated MS dash?
Guyz that why im writing. I have some sort of "corrupted game save" in the xbox's memory that i think is keeping it from updating. i've tried to games from 2006 to update and both of them froze halway through the process and gave me the "check disc for damage or dirt" message. this gamesave was on the xbox when i got it and everytime i delete it, it returns if i try to update the dash or turn off the xbox.

Games play I just can update my dash. A guy from xboxscene has told me to use UDE2 and then ftp over to upgrade to Ndure. My new problem is i need to add ltools_dashes to my memcard but AR says i don't have enough space. Can i put the exploit on the hdd, delete the gamesave from my memcard, and then add ltools_dashes to the gamesave on the harddrive. does this make any sense?

If your modded why are you trying to add stuff with a mem card?
If you ftp all the tools and things in the onley size limit is your hdd.

I'm kindof confused at what exactly your trying to do.... Is your xbox stock or modded? if its stock, are you trying to softmod? if so get SID 5 from AIDeluxe.com. _________________

The xbox Is STILL STOCK and I can't update. I need a softmod that will allow me to softmod on a xbox with a 4920 kernal. i want to try my options before im forced to hotswap.
