I have seen tutorials all over this site about the ability to install a larger hard drive in a softmodded XBox. I was always under the impression that in order to use a bigger HDD, one had to have a chip. So, if it IS possible to upgrade the HDD without a chip, what's the advantage in using the chip?

Ez to fix if you muck it up real good, add on like lcd screens, able to flash more then 1 bios so you can change the way your xbox works with the flip of a switch just to name a few.

If you decide to go with xboxhdm one thing I learned is that if you keep your old stock hdd as is when you take it out, you can use it as a backup incase your new hdd craps out. _________________

If you're box is not a v1.6, you can use chimp to clone from one drive to another.
The tutorial is under my sig. Chimp works with or without chip, procedure is exactly the same.
