I just picked up a dead xbox for parts (paid $10 and it seems just the motherboard is dead), It has a phillips dvd drive and a seagate hard disk. Now, if by chance both are in working order, can the DVD drive be swapped into another xbox to replace a shitty thompson drive? And, are all the seagate drives 10gb? Thanks in advance

Yes, you can change DVD drives. Did that when i bought my 1.0 xbox. My friend i bought it from had a 1.6b and a 1.0 xbox. The 1.0 had a thompson that wouldn't read disks very well at all. So i just took out the philips in the 1.6b and i bought the xbox. Found this weird as well. Both my 1.0 and 1.6 xbox has a seagate 10 gig HDD in it stock, while his 1.6b xbox had a western digital 10 gig in it. So in the end, yes they are all 10 gig stock drives. _________________

I'm not worried about the HDD. I have at least 120gb in each og my boxes. 10gigs is a paperweight for me... lol.
