I put the recovery.bin file into e: and use the system recovery option from the main menu and this is what happens.
before it says "got from hd" it displays this
ide error 04
unable to get xxx(cannot actuallly read what this number/word is) sector
LOADFATX cluster. Out of data while reading cluster 19088743
I have tried to look for an answer to this but I cannot find anything. Can anyone please help me?

What version Xbox do you have?
I have heard of people having issues with 1.6 machines. I haven't tried it personally myself, but you could also try from CD.
There are two files available, one for CD and one for HDD.
I would assume you are using the correct one from your HD.
I'll see what info I can dig up

We recommend upgrade procedure is done with cdrom ISO version, simply unpack and burn the ISO .. ensuring you set Disk at once option (please follow the manual, should you require further assistance) alternatively:
Place the recovery.bin file on your console's E:\ and entering Recovery Mode thru the Xenium-OS menu or by changing the position of the switch on your Xenium, once update has been completed we strongly suggest that the recovery.bin file is either renamed or deleted, to prevent the Upgrade process from being performed unintentionally and your Xenium-OS settings being reset.
It sounds like you are doing the correct thing, but are you using the CDROM or the HDD file. You may want to use the CDROM file as they are recommending it.
Oh yeah: If you have a 1.6 xbox you will need to unlock your HD to do the HD based upgrade. If you can't do the upgrade, use the CD based upgrade.
If you have a Xenium Blue in a 1.6 xbox you will need to do the upgrade in a non 1.6 xbox.
If you get Cluster errors etc when doing the upgrade, just try ignoring them and see if it works anyway _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

Thank you all very much for you help, but it is still not working for me
I have a version 1.1
I have tried both versions of upgrading, and when I use the ISO method I always get the loading...HALT error, but I know it can read the cd, because I can see the cd's content if I search it through the add a new kernel feature.
I am following all the procedures exactly as they are written in xeniums how to update file.
I do not know what to do now, maybe I should try flipping the switch on the chip instead of going to recovery through the menu?

That is definitely an option.
I haven't tried to update any OS's yet on the Xeniums as mine have always ran fine. I go by the motto if it aint broke, don't fix it..
Also, isn't there two recovery files? One that keeps your bios and info intact and another that actually clears the bios of any flashing and information?
With that in mind, I'd be careful of what you are actually trying to put on.
I'll have to catch up a little on OS updating with the Xenium chips. It's one thing I really haven't ventured into.
Another thing that I have heard is to reinstall the factory HD. Then, after OS update to go ahead and put your larger HD back in. That has worked for some other people, but not sure what HD you are running. I didn't look to see if you had one listed.
let me know if you get it solved.

Well, I swapped my original hd back in, tried both ways and still no luck.
I just got a different error message, i forgot to write it down
but i think i am going to take realmccloy's philosophy in this situation, "if it aint broke, dont fix it."
maybe later there will be more information about this error
Thanks everyone!

No problem man..I think you are making a wise decision..HA.
So many times I have decided to tinker with something that was working just fine....and the next thing you know...I am in troubleshooting hell!
I have had about half of my customers email me in the last two days to see if they should upgrade from the 2.0 to the 2.0.1
I have just sold my original mod with the Xenium 1.1 OS, and am running a Halo machine with a Xenium Ice 2.0 OS. And, it's staying a 2.0!!!
