This is just a quick bugfix release. The problems were in the Virtual C installation but now that has been fixed.
Release Notes from v5.0:
Welcome to the last version of Softmod Installer Deluxe.
This is basically a combination of SID 3.1 and 4.5 in what it does, however the PBL (Phoenix BIOS Loader) Softmod method has been removed and only uses NKPatcher 11.
You can only install the EvolutionX and UnleashX Dashboard from this (due to the size of the 8mb Memory Card limit), however after you Softmod your Xbox you can proceed to use Auto-Installer Deluxe to install another Dashboard (Xbox Media Center for example) and the rest of the Applications and/or Emulators you want.

I'm trying to figure out if this is a softmod issue, or a hard drive issue. What I've got is an XBOX with SID 5.0 (I'm going to try 5.01 for the heck of it) and a Seagate 500GB drive. The installation seems to work (I don't understand why the EVOX FTP doesn't work properly, but the FTP in the SOFTMOD area works fine) I've copied over a bunch of my games, which work fine on a different XBOX, for some reason some games work, others don't. I even ripped one of my games on the XBOX in question (Madden 07), then copied the game directly from this XBOX to my known working XBOX. The game didn't work on the new XBOX, but worked fine on the old one (So I know it's not a ripping issue)
Are there known issues with larger hard drives? (My first XBOX drive is only 100GB). Some games work fine on both, all games work on my older XBOX (I think the SID version on it was like 2.0)
The XBOX seems a little slower also (wasn't sure if that was due to the large G drive.)
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

It appears the clearing the cache was all I needed to do. Hope this helps someone else who has the problem.

Not that I need them any more, but I can see this being a huge problem for other people (especially newbies). The EVOX dashboard's implementation of FTP is not fully functional. When I FTP to it, I can see the drive letters, but drilling any lower returns empty folders. Doing the same thing in either the XBMC dashboard or UNLEASHX works fine. Is the solution to re-install the EVOX dashboard using AIS 4.01?
Also, the DHCP implementation on the EVOX and the UNLEASHX dashboards in this latest release are spotty also.
Love the tool overall though.

I currently have SID 3.1 installed, is there really any reason for me to upgrade to SID 5.1?
Like what are the main differenced between the two?

Its worth running on this very simple philosophy,
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
If your SID 3.1 is/has been working fine for you, there's no reason to change. SID is only the installer anyway. If you're happy currently, then there's no reason to change. SID 5.01 is mainly for new people looking to mod, or for people who are experiencing problems with their current version.

Im a new Xbox user and Im trying to use SID to soft mod it. I bought action replay and I've been following all the instructions on the SID manual. I copy the necesary files to the memory card and when I try tocopy them from the memory card to the HDD there is no "Copy" item on the menu. Is there somethign I'm doing wrong? or is it just my Xbox that wont allow me to copy form the memory card?
I checked the Dashboard version and is the right one according to the SID manual.

When I tru to run the run linux game, the screen goes black an the xbox light goes orange an it freezes there. Nothing happens

You need to press "right" on the control pad, to move off the main menu and onto the save itself. Then a copy option will appear.
