Okay, so I know this sounds crazy. It did to me. Thats why did alot of swapping around to make sure before i posted here. So here goes.....
I have a Mechassault game that I have used for a few months to softmod. Its getting a little beaten up from being used so much, and yesterday it absolutely refused to go past the first few screens of the game. It loads all the way up until the point RIGHT BEFORE i get to choose to Run Linux. So i figure the game needs buffed or a i need a new one. Went to Gamecrazy, got one in ok shape and had them buff it just in case. It loaded perfectly in thier instore Xbox. I brought it up stuck it in the Xbox, and same thing. It would load far enough to choose to "Run Linux". So i went and got 1 more copy. This one in almost perfect condition. Stuck it in the Xbox and it wouldnt read far enough into the game to choose to Run Linux. **(mind you i tried the discs in other xboxs and it worked fine)
So i swapped out DVD drives, and put in the Samsung out of an xbox that the game worked in. As soon as i got the samsung drive into Xbox#1 , the game froze at the same spot. I put the samsung back in Xbox#2 and the game worked. Put it back in Xbox#1 and it didnt work. None of the 3 copies work in ANY dvd drive (Ive tried 3 different drives now) that is in Xbox1. But 2 of the 3 discs work on any dvd drive that is in Xbox#2.
Also what threw me off is that all of my others games works in XBox 1, even scratched up ones. Just not Mechassault.
Is this just horrible luck here , or is there a reason behind it?

There has to be a reason that this doesnt work. Ive tried 2 other dvd drives now, on top of what i had already tried when i posted. The damn game works in every other xbox i have but this one.

try cleanin the disk, could be that drive is picky, or its dirty and a dirty disk on top of it doesnt work.. _________________ (2) XBOX v1.4:

dose it have more than one gamesave for Mechassault (a real gamesave and the exploite one)....?

Nope. The only gamesave on there is the exploit. It cant be a dirty disc because EVERY other game works in there. Ive tried 3 different copies of Mech Assault, one of is in PERFECT shape. Plus it plays in the dvd drive , if the dvd is hooked up to a different Xbox. Plays everytime. As soon as i throw the dvd drive back in the other oneit wont work. It loads the cinematics ( ? ), and then right before it goes to where you can choose campaign, it stops. Everytime.

I never did figure out what the problem was. Rather than mess the other exploits, I just sold the xbox unmodded. Thanks for all the help in trying to figure this one out guys!

make sure it is the correct product number as the one you used to do the first soft mod. If you use a later version the productnumber will be different and will not allow you to boot the run linux file. I had the same problem. Game stop does not carry the older mech assult games because of the exploit. It is really hard to find them at game crazy also. I don't have the exact number on me cause I'm not at home but i could try to get it to you. Otherwise check the numbers on your old disk with the new ones you have. _________________ RastaCalavera

They were all the same ones, butThat couldnt have been the problem because no matter what version the game was, it still should have played on an unmodded xbox. Like i said, i sold the xbox already, but would still like to know if anyone has other ideas on why it wount play! Thanks
