Hi, I just bought xbox recently and it was manufactured on the 2004-07-30
so I'm just wondering what kind of modchip should i get and can i install it by myself. By the way I've got a PAL xbox.

Welcome to the site springwater, now your looking for the best chip? Im not sure sure if it matters if it is PAL or NTSC....but I know the Xenium Ice Covers all versions of the Xbox....1.0 - 1.6. I hope that helps. If you need anything else, just post!.
BTW....BMmods.com, I believe that is the site that will get u a Xenium Ice chip. But then there are a few sites, Ive heard awesome stuff on BMmods though.

The Xenium Ice will work on your machine. You have a 1.6 most definitely.
Keep in mind that there has been some new issues cropping up with 1.6 mods.
If you mod your machine and try to turn it on and you have no power, don't think you did something wrong. It is the 2T standby resistor that went sour on you. I think this is another tactic by MS to thwart modding or the removal of the mobo.
Anytime you open a 1.6 and tinker with the mobo you have a chance at blowing this puppy. It is tedious, but not super hard to replace and I suggest if it happens to you to use the 2A resistor not a 2T. The 2A is more tolerant.
