hello all, i have a softmodded box with an 80 gig HD. is there are way to rip my original movies (not burned copies) to the HD with dvd2xbox or another app? dont want to ftp or convert formats. is this possible? i have not gotten anything to work. thanks in advance.

i use dvd2xbox, and then in xbmc you just hit white button then play.. but then i ftp it over to my pc and convert it to divx because it goes from about 5gig to 1gig and after tonz of movies thats alot of space..

It may be a little trouble, but ripping your DVDs to an .avi format (such as DivX) really is worthwhile. XBMC is much more compatible with these than the DVD .vob files. And the reduced file size, as stud_man mentioned.

However, if you really don't wish to do this, dvd2xbox is probably your best option Smile

do you rip the movie in ISO mode with dvd2xbox? i have tried to pull up the ripped files (tried both ISO and VOB) with XBMC but it sees nothing. i am able to find the files with a file manager, but am not given a play option. i have to be missing something simple...

I didn't know that DVD2Xbox did ISO conversion? If so, XBMC should be able to mount and play it. I have played ISO's that I have ftp'd over before...

no, just use normal to rip movies to the movies folder, then in xbmc go to the movies folder, and when you see the title scroll down and highlight it, then click the white button and go down to play... it might take a second and it should play..
