Quick question. Ive wanted to do this for a lil while now and I want to know where you cut it? did you take it off at the crease (bottom of dvd tray) or how much did you cut?

17mm is the number you want. I have a tut on my site on how i have done it so far. still working on the harddrive part to hold it and thinking on installing the 2nd fan in the top were jewel is as i have installed a 2nd fan plug in the mobo like on the v1.0 xboxs.

Got my parts 2 days ago and have modifyed the plastic tray and modifyed a steel try to go in the plastic tray to hold the hdd in my slim. Should have it all bolted together and hdd srewed in place this week and i move on to installing chip and dash and that.
