Hey all, I am sure you have all heard me say how much I like the Xenium Ice chips for one reason or another. Well, here's another.
I just chipped a 1.3 machine with the Xenium Ice and it came time for me to flash the chip. Naturally, I grabbed my trusty ol' DVD+R that I have used countless times in Phillips drives. Well, this Phillips wanted no part of it. I tried my DVD-R, my CDRW...but no joy.
Just as I was about to put in my spare Samsung so I could flash it I remembered that the Xenium Ice OS had a FTP setting. I went into the settings and configured the IP, FTP'd the bios.bin file (Xecuter2 4983.67) to the C folder and tried the flash that way. Man, that was so much easier!
So, for those who are worried about having proper media to burn bios on, have made countless coasters due to getting the wrong media, then here's a good reason to own a Xenium Ice.
I also took advantage of the HD Swap! I have a HD with quite a few Xbox games on it. All I had to do was disco the Phillips DVD Drive from the IDE cable and plug it into the spare HD. From the Xenium OS menu I made the transfer! Simple!!
I am sure other fourth gen chips have FTP and HD swap features, but when you combine those with the support you get for this chip it's tough to switch.
I am still waiting for feedback on the X3 chip though. Any info from modders who have used it would be greatly appreciated!

You seem to get all misty-eyed when you talk about Xenium Ice chips... almost unnatural...
