Hi everyone, heres my problem. I just modded my box (1.6b, 250 gig hd, evox dash, smartxx v3) and everything is working fine except that i cant get the M$ dash to load. I get an error 13 when I try and load it from the smartxx startup screen, and a error 21 when I try to load it from evox. I tried copying the C drive from my other modded box (also a 1.6 and the M$ dash loads on that box) but that dosent work either. Same errors. Also, the hard drive is locked. I do have the xboxdash.xbe file in my c drive as well, aaand, Ive tried restoring the M$ dash with the AID 3.0 disc, all to no avail. I'm wondering if this might have something to do with hard drive keys and/or eeprom's matching. Help please!!!

PS. I have looked and looked for someone in these forums with my problem, so I didnt have to post this, but no dice.

You can try to download the files from my signature, but I don't think that is the problem.

If your using evox check the .ini file to make sure it is pointing to the right filename

Thanks, I'll try, but I already tried another C drive I got from somewhere else, so this would make 4 C drives I've tried. Also, the evox.ini is pointing to xboxdash.xbe. I still think it has something to do with hdd keys and eeproms matching though.

Service Error 13:
Info: Dashboard launch failed (due to missing/bad key, or anything else that would prevent it from running) and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed.
Solution: Lock the Harddisk if not done so. Try updating your M$ Retail Dashboard using the 'HQ Auto Installer v1.01'. or manually download and install one of the 4 different Microsoft Dashboard versions.

Service Error 21:
Info: This error says that the machine was booted to display a error, basically someone told the machine to reboot (or launch a xbe) with this flag, and the error code just means its been rebooted by the flag. This error seems to show up more often when hacking/patching/customizing the original dashboard.
Solution: You probably are running the wrong dashboard for your xbox version. Use the 'HQ Auto Installer Deluxe' to reinstall your Retail M$ Dashboard.. It should fix this error no matter which xbox version you have.. If not try downloading another Retail M$ Dashboard.

Have done both of these things. Tried several different C drives, also, updated the dash with the Auto Installer. Also, I am sure the Hdd is locked. However, I wasnt aware that there were several different dashboard versions. Don't suppose you could tell me where to get these? I did take the C drive right off the original hdd that was in the box, and that one gives me the same errors.

The one in my signature is the most current.

Also make sure that you have the latest version of Evox. Shouldn't matter, but it may.

Are you able to launch other dashboards or programs?

What type of softmod did you use?
