I have a hard modded xbox(chip:aladdin no idea what version, software: evox 2.5 slayer auto installer) that works fine but lately the dvd rom hasnt been able to read any disks, or im getn the dirty disc error screen. So i bought a new phillips drive and i placed it into my xbox. The led on the middle of my xbox flashes green and red and i get the error meessage saying that i should send my xbox to customer support in green. I'm guessing i have to back every thing up from my xbox hdd to my pc. Then re-install evox and then dump every thing back to my xbox hdd.the IDE cable and the yellow cable are secure but is there a flash that i can use so I dont have to re-modd my xbox with evox. I had a thompson and swithched to a philips, and my thompson was in my xbox at the time I moddded it. The error number on the top left of the screen is 08. I'm sure all cabbles are connected properly and my xbox works fine when the thompson is in but when i put my philips the xbox goes to error code 08 . But do I have to do any thing to re-flash my xbox or do i have to back every thing up then load evox again. Is that what I have to do, If you have any idea what I'm doing wrong or suggestions to help me plz reply. THX for reading.

We answered this in the other psrt you made...its not your DVD the error code is your HDD. So did you lock it or check every connection to the HDD...thats the problem _________________ The mighty V6 Passat came to chew bubble gum and kick%^* and shes all out of bubble gum!

It definitely sounds like you have two separate issues. First, your DDE error was definitely related to the DVD drive.
Once you parted your machine to replace the DVD drive quite possibly something could have happened to the HD. What size HD is it?
Here is a real cheap way to figure out if HD is cooked. You can buy unlocked stock HDs for cheap. I have dozens of these laying around so if you need one I can sell one for $10.45 shipped via Priority Mail. You'll have it in 2-3 days if you are in the USA. If you are out of the USA, I'd have to pass on the sale because it wouldn't be cost effective for you. You could find one closer for less than I could get to you just do to shipping alone.
If you pop the replacement drive in and your Xbox boots, then you know your HD took a dive. This, although rare, is not unheard of. Electronic components can go in an instant. A static discharge could have boogered up something, or it could have just plain died.
Do you hear any loud clicking noises coming from the HD area while the machine is on and the error code is being displayed?
Is it possible that you may have damaged some pins while reconnecting the IDE cable to the motherboard??
You definitely need to start doing some troubleshooting and eliminating possible issues one at a time. _________________ Xbox 1.4
