Post subject: Aladdin Advanced 32 unable to boot different modes

Hey all,

I'm recently got my hands on a faulty box that turned out to contain an Aladdin Advanced 32 chip. The box would only boot to the M$ dash when I got it but that was simply because the guys EvoX files had gotten messed up. Anyways, I've restored XBMC as the default dash so it's obviously booting a hacked bios perfectly fine (I don't know what one though, XBMC cant ID it for some reason...I'm assuming Evo M7 as its a 1.4 box).

This is my first experience with an Aladdin chip (I'm a Xenium man myself) and from what I've read up I should be able to boot the Aladdin chip in three different modes according to how long I hold the power button down when it powers up.

Mode 1) Press and release (green LED) = boot with chip off from original TSOP bios
Mode 2) Press for 1-3 seconds (red LED) = boot with chip on from hacked bios
Mode 3) Press for 5 seconds (flashing red LED) = boot with chip on from hacked bios with bios write mode enabled.

Regardless of how long I press the power button for, the box straight away boots into mode 2 however the eject LED is still green...????

I don't know the history of the box but based on what I'm seeing I'm wondering if maybe the original TSOP bios has been replaced with a hacked bios and something has happened to the chip install and the chip isn't actually booting at all. The chip was installed professionally via soldered wires though, for which all the connections still look good (no loose wires or anything).

Anybody have any thoughts.......
Thanks
