OK.
It's unusal for me to be asking questions here, but here we go, I just want to clarify some things before I can possibly screw my modchip.
The AppleX V Modchip I got came pre-flashed, but after reading posts on Xbox-Scene I found out that they are re-flashable, and as easy as flashing in evox
I want to check some stuff though...
1) When I made a backup of my original BIOS, it was 1mb. So I'm guessing what I'd do is have 4 x 256kb bios in one 1mb file.
2) If for some reason this flash doesn't go well, can I easily make a BIOS CD with the original BIOS to re-flash?
Thanks...

Hey DJB, I am looking into what info I can dig up on this. I have never flashed a bios larger than 256k so this is a learning experience for myself as well.
All I have dug up so far is just info saying that the chip is flashable. I am surprised yours came preflashed as everyone I have ran into so far sells it with no bios flashed to chip.
Catch up with you real soon!

Hey DJB, closer to getting some info for you mate. I have ran into a post that also describes needing to solder two points on the chip in order to be able to flash it. However, it didn't elaborate on the two points.
This was the reply to someone asking the same question you did:
Quote:
In order to flash the appleX V you have to solder together the 2 points on the chip did you do this? If yes then you have a bad flash and will need to hot swap the chip to flash it or buy another
I will keep looking into it for you.

lookin at your info about your xbox, you have a applex v. that has a 256kb bios. it's the applex pro, applex vi and applex vi pro that have the 1mb bios. just wanted to clear this up so you dont make a mistake. as far as the two solder points... if you look at the chip, look at it so you see the d1 solder point directly above the d0. ok.... now you'll see two little copper boxes directly above the d1. just below where it says "applex v" on the green part of the chip. these two copper boxes are the two points that need to be shorted together in order to flash the chip.
hope that helps. just wanted to clear this up before something bad happened.
P.S. you can find them at gocybershop.com, preflashed with evox bios. _________________ XBOX360

Everything is ok with the modchip, it still works fine. I'm just curious about what I'd have to do.
I found out about the 2 solder points not long after making the post, just forgot to actually state here that I found out.
Thanks for you concern though, it's apprecitaed

Hi revolver944, (oh, and DJB lol )
I modded the xbox for DJB but when i ordered the applexv from a old supplier it came preflashed.. (which was even easier) heheh
All DJB has to do is Soldier those two points or he could install a switch to activate the FLASHING OPTION ON/OFF.. Ive mentioned this to him before..I just wasnt positive on what size bios he needed and really saw no need to flash it anyway.. He is getting his XTENDER soon for his B'DAY so i will probably install a switch for him at the same time.
Your getting good with your xbox knowledge revolver944:
