Hello everyone,

I was interested in trying the AID autoinstaller to put a few apps on my inherited Xbox, but I am not sure how to get it to boot from the DVD-ROM and not directly into the Xenium OS 2.3.0.

Any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Tom

Turn on your xbox and go to the xenium 2.3.0 screen....from there put your aid disc in the drive....then from the xenium screen load your hacked bios....if you have a hacked bios other than the retail one that works it should load by itself...later.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. When I go to the launch menu, my choices are evox and the retail bios. Do I need to install a hacked bios here in order to boot the AID disc? I just inherited this Xbox and am on the learning curve for all of the modchip/bios/dashboard tech.

I thought that the chip had been flashed with the xenium 2.3.0 bios since I am seeing the xenium 2.3.0 OS screen? Is it a possibility that my DVD-ROM may be faulty since I am unable to view contents of the DVD in boxplorer and unable to view DVD movies? I don't have an xbox game yet to test that.

Cheers,
Tom

Go into your launch menu and hit evox with aid in the drive and let me know if that works for you...later.

Hey, without the disc in the drive, the system works perfectly. Boots to Xenium OS, can launch into Evox, can use content on the hard drive and launch other programs. But, with the disc in the drive, I can turn on the system, get to the Xenium OS, launch evox and then it does the evox load screen with the green blob and then goes to a black screen and appears to hang. I let it set for a few minutes with no change.

I ask about the drive since I have not been able to play DVD movies from it and when I opened the case, my friend had pinched the IDE cable running from the DVD drive to the hard drive with one of the torx screws. I bought a new cable and will replace it, but I am suspect of the drive.

Thanks again for helping a new newbie.

Cheers,
Tom
