Posted: Wed Jan 04, 2006 4:45 am Post subject: Hitachi 250 locked/ error 6 when hotswap error 9
I am upgrading harddrive on a SID 3 softmodded xbox with UIX as primary dash and EvoX as E: dash. Xbox v1.6.
I used Xboxhdm to prepare the new drive ( Hitachi 250gb) Everything went fine restarted Xboxhdm could find the eeprom from disk when I went to lock drive. So I used a floppy. Yet when I put it in the xbox I got an error 6 and when I try to hotswap I get either error 9 or 7 pending on timing.
Is there another way to unlock the drive or should I work on my timing with the hotswap. Any help would be appreciated.

use the same Xbxhdm disc to unlock and get the proper eeprom to lock it correctly, and this means that same xbox your gonna put the new hdd in, that's the eeprom you should use, also make sure your using latest xbxhdm disc

Just curious, why didn't you lock the drive on the Xbox? I have tried all the tools that come with xboxhdm. From option 3 to unlockx
hdunlock, unlockhd and atapwd IIt is still locked with high security.
The password generated from eeprom doesn't match the password I used when locking it.
Yet neither work to unlock it.

hmm ur name sounds fimilir ... anyways try everything over again .. or just exchange the hdd say it dont work or somtin....

I used configmagic backup and evox backup.
I tried unlocking with xboxhdm by typing passwords. Tried both and no luck.

i never done it typing numbers.. i used the option (3) on the menu.. boot to unlocking/lockin utilies _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

Thanks for all the help guys, I went ahead and returned it. Now I'm ready to look again should I manually type the password that I see at the bottom of my screen (unlock password) in configmagic.
