Is there an alternate tray and bt connection? I'm realizing that my soldering skill is horrible and I cannot make a connection on R364 or on the under side of pin 2 for BT and same thing for tray. Now I know why Xecuter charges so much for having those quck connects directly on their chips.

Any suggestion would be great. I have V1.0 xbox.

Actually, I just realize DouX chip uses their BT connection on the pin on the power button board. Is one of the other pins for tray/eject? And if so, can I use that? Those pins are lot bigger and easier for me to solder. Thanks.

If you're looking at the install diagrams that's released for the DUOX2, the BT location on the power board is for TRAY eject. If you look at the bottom of this pic:
http://www.duomodchip.com/english/install/duox2/duox2_v1.0.jpg
you can see where the DUOX BT (aka Tray Eject) is supposed to go. If you can take off your front panel and unscrew that power board, there is a spot where you can solder to get the Sunday BT (aka power on) to work. If you zoom in and look at the bottom of the above mentioned picture you'll see where the yellow power PCB wires come out and plug into the motherboard. Well, to the right of that you'll see 8 vertical solder points. The very bottom one is for power on. I used to use this location before I knew about about the other BT spots on the resistors.
- I do have to note that after my first attempt my xbox would just turn off and turn on randomly, turns out I got some extra flux on the board (Im guessing) so I cleaned it good with some paper towels and it stopped rebooting.
- There may be someother easy locations, but that's the one i used at first. now though I just use the BT spots of the Clevermod...they are smaller, but once you've soldered a D0 point several times, you get confident w/ that iron...

normally the botttom locations on pins 2 and 4 are easiest. I don't recommend behind the front panel connector because it's like you say it's prine to phantom turn off and turn ons.

Thanks for the responses. I'll try the clevermod points again with a clean and pointier tip. Hopefully that will help. But I got so much resin on pin 2 I'm not even sure if it will be enough. Solder seem to just bubble up and won't stick to it. I don't know why I'm having so much trouble with pin 2 and 4. Before i began, I thought those would be the easiest too. The bottom D0 wasn't a problem for me.

Thanks for pointing out the alternative BT and tray points and correcting the difference with the DouX chip.

I'm also thinking of splicing into those wires or the plug for pin 2, 4, and the V1.0 brown standby. Smile

You say so much resin, dunno..is that flux? If not then go ahead and invest in a wee tin of Flux. I was reluctant to use any at first. ...that was until my buddy moved into a new house and there was a bag of tools left behind with a tin of flux. Yay, free flux!! Anyways,
A little dab (LITTLE DAB) of this stuff on the tip of the pin your trying to solder to is perfect. Once you bring the iron and solder into contact the flux will melt and ooze onto the pin you're trying to solder to. It basically removes the outer oxides from what you're soldering to allows them to 'bond' together easier.
- Excuse my simplified explanation of the process...
I used to have goops of solder on the pins w/ no contact also...this stuff helps quite a bit.
Go ahead and also excuse this if you already no of the wonders of flux..heee
