I did the SID softmod and it worked good. I tried to in intall some emulators from AID 2.0. After rebooting it was in a xbox live update loop. What did I do?

If you lost the clock, you may have to hotswap. Was the box unplugged for quite a while? _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

I personally have scowered the net trying to find an answer to this issue without any further luck.
Perhaps someone else has experienced this situation and can shed some light. What's killing me is that I have not performed a softmod yet, so I don't have enough experience with them to have worked a troubleshooting. Loki and Pirrup have worked softmods, so lets see if they will pick up on this thread. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

That sounds like the xbox is booting the
wrong .xbe on your C:\
did you patch the ms dash without
updating it on xbox live?
I'm not quite sure what the deal is
but I think ms at some stage reversed
the name of the dash and online updater app
or it's something the softmod does
at some point.
I'm not sure if you conected it to
xbl that it would fix it either.
it'd get banned for sure though.
If you can get accsess to the hdd
at some stage reverse them names
and you'd be rollin.
Hdd swap or something.
Be nice if the softmods themselves
changed or added a master pass to
the hdd apon instalation.
Got it working I couldn't get AID to boot but I loaded Splinter Cell and redid the softmod. Then I deleted all the files in c: and reintall the ms dash....back to normal!
Thanks for your help.

i installed the autoinstaller softmod on a 1.6 xbox with splintercell and at some point now the xbox will not boot any originals so as far as i can tell there is no way to resoft mod it. i have an executer 3.0 but i would hate to have to resort to that as it would mean i would be giving up on softmod (which is a heck of alot quicker to do than a modchip install). i tried plugging my xbox to a network cable on the internet to let the update happen but it just boots to the autoupdate and fails as well. any help appreciated.
update: have found the method for hotswapping will try that, however what did i do wrong with the xbox? it went bad when a friends kid was playing original splinter cell that i softmodded it with. is the softmod reliable?

This seems to be a big problem. I too have an xbox stuck in this loop.. I went the whole way through the softmod, and AID, even installed emulators and apps.
All worked fine, until i turned to off for a while and came back to it. Now, I have tried to load splinter cell, and AID but nothing loads.
I am thinking i need to hotswap the HDD, dont really want to but it seems like the only way.
I dont know where to get a mod chip or feel comfortable installing one myslef.
Is there any way to FTP to the box.?

Hi All,
Seem to have the same issue here... I had previously soft modded my 1.6 box (plus upgraded to a 160 gig drive) with the Mech Assault mod and ran avalaunch fine (yeah I know if it ain't broke why fix it!!).
I then ran up the AID 2.02 and went to re soft mod it so that I have nkpatcher on it, but the batch process "failed" and when I re booted the box it is also stuck in this loop. I have tried to boot with the dvd in, but with no luck.
Will I have to possibly re run xboxhdm and re create my drive? (thus losing games and data off the f drive?)...I have a complete backup of my drive plus eepromm...but trying not to lose my games would be good..
Any help/advice would be greatly apprecaited.
Cheers,

yes use xboxhdm with the correct eeprom and just restore the c (don't answer yes to E or F drive when asked)

I have similar Xbox Live loop problem whereby I keep getting the "Xbox Live is updating your system. Please don't turn off your Xbox console", then later this message keep appearing "Xbox Live is not responding. Please try again later." There is only the "OK" button and once you press the "OK" button, the same message will repear againW and again.
I have previously installed the SID3 Splinter Cell gamesave to softmode my Xbox. After softmode, I used the AID version 2 (original without the Add-on Packs - Auto-Installer Deluxe v2.01 Update). I intalled some emulators and applications from AID 2.0. Everythings seems OK (except that when I install "Nkpatcher + MS Dash", it gaves me an error: "Failed rename file"), and I turned off the Xbox. After rebooting, the Xbox was in a Xbox Live Update loop. Initially, I still managed to load Splinter Cell gamesave and AID version 2 and I thought it is OK. When the 2nd day I turn on the Xbox, I can't even load Spliter Cell gamesave or AID version 2 even with the Xbox tray open. I cannot run original MS Splinter Cell again. I also cannot launch AID version 2.
By the way, I have a copy of the Xbox C drive in my notebook (and also in the Xbox E drive), I am not sure whether it contains the EEPROM Backup. Is there a way to recover the Xbox using the backup copy of Xbox C drive?
Appreciate if someone can advice how can I proceed from here to make my Xbox working again. Thanks.

I have recently tried out pirrup's tutorial "Hotswap: recover a hd without eeprom backup". By extracting the Xboxhdm 1.9, I put the previous backup copy of C in \xboxhdm\linux\C directory managed to make the linux.iso using the "make-iso-win" and burn into the CD-RW. I follow the instruction in the hotswap tutorial and I get Xbox error message 12 and I remove the Xbox cable and put in the PC IDE cable that connect to the primary IDE controller to the Xbox hardisk.
When the xboxhd utility booted up, I pressed 2)boot text-console with xbox-drive utilities (as the option 1 - boot VGA console with xbox-drive utilities, I can't see the graphic at all), the xbox-drive utilites detected the hardisk but found that he hardisk is locked and option "1)build a new xbox HD from scrach" until option "5)wipe current fatx partition table" have been disabled. I can't restore the Xbox C drive as this option has been disable. Please help.
I have tried a couple of time, but now the error message change from initial error message 12 to error message 7 and the xboxhd utilities seems like not able to detect the hardisk now. No hardisk detected.
Would appreciate if anyone can help to resolve this problem. Thanks.
