On the fly bios options. Disk preparation utility within the hacked bios menu. Eeprom backup to the chip. Quite a few more options. Then the X3CP functionality and soon the X3iR mod so yo ucan turn it on with an IR remote. A few other differences.
And the included debug bios is handy instead of having to flash ANOTHER bios to the chip, you just enable the debug mode.
um...disable flubber, tweak things here and there. Its just convenience and full functionality out of a modchip.
EDIT: Also, X3 will soon have a Cromwell OS for SmartXX/Xenium style features like HDD cloning and such.

Try DPRules, he is the last guy I remember hearing trying to find/buy a cheap chip.
