I have a ques. about a Box that'll be coming my way. I'm not sure which chip it is excactly.
Any1 know of a chip that has 3 external switches 1 "protected/unprotected", 2 "Bank 1&2", 3 "on/off"?
It's my brothers Box and he bought it premodded loaded w/ EvoX. Now EvoX has missing items in the menu screen, and won't boot Games from HDD. Any thoughts? _________________ GBox v1.0

It's really hard to say what chip is there, but sounds like it could be one of the older Xecuter2.3 chips.
Until you open it and look at the chip and/or switch you probably won't know. My guess is, he has an old version of EvoX and a older bios flashed to it. Once you find out what chip it is, you can secure a programmer for it so you can flash it. If it's the 2.3 chip you will need to flash that way I am almost certain.

If your lucky the guy only had one bios bank flashed with a bios (xecuter, evox) and left cromwell bios on the other bank which will allow you to flash your chip via cd. If that is the case you can flash the entire flash rom with a 1mb cromwell bios with flashbios v3.01 or 3.03 (if it is a xecuter) by making a bios cd. That pretty much restores it to its factory state. Then you can flash it with a newer bios (xecuter, evox). _________________ [RIP Radio]
