Hey all,
Just wanted to throw a few things out there in regard to news submissions.
If submitting images for the story, please limit the image size. Too large of an image causes the readers to have to scroll left and right which is annoying. I usually limit my images to 425 pixel width.
Also, use <blockquote> at the beginning of your story and </blockquote> at the end right before the source of the story.
Use the Extended Text area for actual story components. If your story is too long, please use that area. Do not just use it for the source. When you use the extended text area it creates the "Read More" link. It's pretty annoying to think there is more to a story and then press the "Read More' only to find the news source is there.
I try to catch all of this and make the changes before I approve the story, but if too many keep coming like this I will just delete the story.
Another thing is, when you are reporting that a new Chip OS, ISO tool, or anything downloadable is released take a moment to upload the release if not already on our server, and create a download link to the file.
If you do not know how to do this, let me know and I can post a little tutorial that forahobby posted in the moderator section way back when. I still refer to it from time to time.
Thanks for all the submissions!! I am sure forahobby appreciates everyones time they have been putting into this site.

Very helpful since I was submitting stories and not fully aware of all the functionalities. Perhaps this might be a sticky for those that join the site and wish to contribute? _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

I'm not sure if there was one in the contest section or not, I'll have to check. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

Yeah, posting a tutorial on that would be nice. I would like to be able to post news on topics that I discover and want to make sure I do it correctly. Let me know where and how to access the tutorial and hopefully you'll be seeing some news posts from me. Thanks ModGod. _________________ XBOX v1.6c

Hey Modgod.
Did we ever install the tutorial that forahobby posted in the moderator section regarding how to properly post news to the site?
I would like to be sure and do this right, so I have been holding off. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Me too, I was hoping to upload some news in the near future but I want to make sure that I do it correctly and don't piss anyone off doing it the wrong way. Hopefully we can see a tutorial on it soon! Thanks ModGod! _________________ XBOX v1.6c

Actually, the tutorial was only for adding download buttons.
To submit news, just start your news story off with the <blockquote> tag. This will give it a better look. Then, make sure before you put your News Source: add the </blockquote> tag.
If you ever want to add a download button for software that you have uploaded and then wrote a story on, here is some code to do that.
THINGS TO CHANGE:
- Download block
1. Change name="query" value="" and make value= the exact name of the download in the DOWNLOADS directory. (see exampe below)
2. If the file is in the VIP downloads section just change the line <form action="downloads.html" method="post"> to <form action="downloadsvip.html" method="post">
3. Now to change the TEXT shown in the BOX that is to be clicked
<input type="submit" value="Download X2 Bios Manager v2.2"> to <input type="submit" value="Download Your File Name v2.2">
EXAMPLE BELOW:
Code:
NEWS TITLE: X2 Bios Manager v2.2
<BLOCKQUOTE>
' <i>A new version of Xecuter2 Bios Manager has been released </i>' <br>
<br>
<div align="center">
<form action="downloads.html" method="post">
<input type="hidden" name="d_op" value="search">
<input type="hidden" size="25" name="query" value="X2 Bios Manager v2.2">
<input type="submit" value="Download X2 Bios Manager v2.2">
</form>
</div>
<b><U>What's new/fixed</b></U>:<br>
- Now Supports Evox M8<br>
- No io.dll errors when simply messing with bios's (no programming via LPT)<br>
</BLOCKQUOTE>
<b><U>News-Source</b></U>: <a href="http://www.teamxecuter.com/" target="blank">http://www.teamxecuter.com</a>
Let me know if that helps.
