I have an xbox which starts up fine but as soon as i press the eject button it just shuts off, if i press the eject button whilst its shut off, it comes on for barely a second and shuts itself off straight away. It was working great before
I have another xbox which has error 21 it is modded but i think i changed the wrong setting or something so no idea what to do with it now

It could be other things but a good guess is it could be a trace corrosion problem ie. due to foreign matter or long term material deterioration the very fine electrical paths on the printed circuit boards are compromised.
With an old, well used Xbox a very typical culprit is the clock capacitor leaking speading its acidic contents over the MB. But there have been claims that even the finger grease from the original manufacturing assembly can, over time, attack and break down these fine paths.
The problem is that apart from the clock capacitor leaking identifying the location of the trace break is very difficult. Search online for info about cleaning up the MB and repairing any damaged traces if it is that capacitor. This is not that easy either.
Otherwise all you can do is clean all the PCBs of dust etc, hope that fixes it but if not search with a strong magnifying glass. If you find the trouble then apply the same repair solutions as for the capacitor leak.
The error 21 Xbox (assuming a softmod) may be easily fixable as that error is a non-specific one. If the softmod is still intact you should be able to cold boot an installer disc rescue disc like AID or HeXEn. HeXEn would be my suggestion as that will update everything to what was, when it was compiled, the safest most modern softmod installation available.
But if discs (must be DVD-R) won't boot you may still be able to FTP if you have the original game saves/exploit on the HDD. Cold boot SplinterCell or whatever was used originally and the installer dash will allow FTP access. Again plenty of info online, probably available here and certainly elsewhere about what to do to if you can get a FTP connection.
Good luck.
