Hello everyone, im really hoping someone here can help me save my xbox. Until a couple of hours ago everything was fine. xbmc and everything was working great. then after a break I tried to turn the console on and nothing happened. I tried unplugging it and wiggling the cord but nothing would work. I initially figured it must be the power cord so after a while of searching the internet for a replacement, I decided to give it another try. and guess what, it turned on. but my excitement was short lived and i am now beset by whole mess of other problems. as the system was starting up I noticed I wasn't getting a picture on the screen. I tried messing with the cord and even switching tv but nothing would work. After cutting it on and off a few times, I noticed something else. normally the green ring will flash a few times and start flashing all three colors, like a modded system normally would. But it was now it would flash green, turn off for a second, flash green again, and then start alternating flashing green and red. not good right? So I took it apart and checked all of the cables, I unplugged and replugged the ide cables on both of the hard drive and dvd drive. after hooking everything back up, I decide to give it another go. This time the system seemed to start to boot up normally, now freezes on the green microsoft xbox turn on screen.
the wonderful minds of amiga and SPPV helped me to first get this ting modded and running so now i've returned hoping you can help me save it.

Is it a V1.0 Xbox, Flashing red & Green(FRAG)
This is called Christmas tree lights.
It could be a Bios or HDD problem.
Try another IDE cable to see if it fixers the freeze problem.
If you still have the eeprom.bin file you can
Try building a new HDD from scratch for it.
And see if it fixers the problem.
Also take out the power supply and re-solder the two AC power jack pins.
I hope you get this working again.

Hi ken thanks so much for replying
what do you mean by bios, is that like a motherboard problem?
I tried it again today and it started up perfectly, imagine, my excitement. but it wasn't hooked up to the tv, so I unplugged it and carried it over to my set and reconnected everything again. the when I hooked everything back up, it started to weird out on me again with the Christmas tree lights. I let sit for another day and gave it another try and it started working again. Is it possible that the power cord or the power supply could be causing this to happen? I have noticed that the part where you stick in the power cord is loose and it doesn't grip the cord well. I'm going to look into getting a soldering iron to try the repair job on the power supply. Thanks again for your advice

Your welcome, I like helping out.
If you have a softmoded Xbox it's not your Bios chip.
Softmod over rides bios chip boot up sequence.
If it's hardmoded(chipped) it could be a dry solder joint causing FRAG.
You have a hardware problem that is going bad.Would not be the power cord doing that FRAG.
It could be your IDE cable, HDD, DVD drive or mother board.
Replace your IDE cable first and then a DVD drive from another Xbox
to see what happens. if it still FRAG's the HDD may be failing.
Some other things i had to fix on my V1.0 Xbox
The 1 farad time & date memory capacitor that leaks acid all over the front top and bottom of the motherboard and destroys one or two resistors and a some SMD transistors, you need to wash all that acid off with alcohol off the board as it is conductive and shorting other components out.
I put a 6 farad capacitor in there that holds memory & time for four days
takes an hour of game play to charge it, But hell i play for more than 2 hours or at a time.
So check these things out to see what other damage the capacitor has done to the board, Acid crystallizes and goes hard and needs scraping off, also corrodes copper tracks on the board,
Check for continuity with a multimeter from one end of the copper tracks to the other end, of any tracks going past the capacitor front end of the board, it sometime takes out two or three copper tracks.
You need to check for corroded tracks on both sides of the board,
Look very closely for anything that doesn't look right on the board.
I had corroded tracks that looked like some dirt on the board,
I tried to clean the dirt off that would not come off easy,
I had to scrape it gently and lightly sand it with wet/dry 1200 grit to prepare it for soldering,
it had eaten into the tracks.
Also give the AV jack a re-solder on the back of the board,
AV jack & AC cord hangs out the back and tends to get stood on most times.
You can't see the fine hair line cracks in the pins just re-solder all pins try not to bridge the AV pins use a gel flux to help make solder flow better into the pins.
It is a common problem on all Xbox's, A must do thing,
when you get a soldering iron.

I had Christmas tree lights on a V1.0 Xbox and it gives no video or on screen error code.
SPPV & Amiga and other members here helped me as well.

I am having the same issue with my Soft Modded XBox. I have tried Replacing the IDE Cable and DVD Drive with my other non Modded XBox still no luck. I have also moved my hard drive into the other xbox and had the same Red Green Lights.
By my process of elimination this sounds like the HDD is gone.
I am new to softmodding and didn't do the initial mod to it. My main question is for the Soft Modding, I would think that there is some parts of the soft mod that change things on the mother board and some on the HDD. Would I be able to just swap out the hard drive and transfer files over or would I have to go through the modding process again?

Hi, I could be wrong but I believe your are going to have to soft mod your other xbox. With softmodding, the system uses its own particular key to lock and unlock the hard drive. So a key on one xbox wont unlock a hard drive from another xbox. Since this tread is old you should probably try making a new one. More people are apt to see it. this question is way over my head so I will also try to message those who helped me and pass them onto you, SPPV and the others know their stuff and are always very helpful.
