Hi all,

An old memory card I bought at a retro game store had a splinter cell exploit and what appeared to be an unleash x installer (i.e. had a blue screen and the traditional blue sphere with an 'X' through the middle).

I think it was this version:

V0.39.0515A Build 583

But I can double check later, if needed.

I naturally was curious and pushed a button that installed some kind of softmod.

The program said it installed some kind of mod to my C drive.

I pressed the eject button to remove the splinter Cell game. As the tray was opening, the program immediately closed the tray and the splinter cell game started again.

I ejected the disk again (while splinter cell was playing), took out the disk and my xbox was back to the plain old MS dash.

I powered down the xbox, powered it back up and it still went back to the MS dash.

When I install SID 5.11 later this week, will it bark at me when it sees an older unleash X installer in the C drive and not perform the softmod (even if I backed up all the drives as all tutorials do)?

If SID does bark at me, how can I remove the very old softmod that was installed to my C drive?

Thanks

Id pop a burned disc (game, installer etc) in and see if it boots. If it does use XBMC Installer and use its file manager to check your C drive. If its just stock M$ files hit disable Shadow-C then hit Shadow-C-UnleashX. If its mod files, just hit Shadow-C-UnleashX. If it fails then its AutoBuilder5.1 time.

If it wont boot burned discs and just boot loops you when trying to use Splinter Cell to einstall the mod I again refer you to AutoBuilder.

Hey SPPV I know exactly what I did:

I hit "Install Softmod"

http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/182aq7xxrr03wjpg/original.jpg

But I did not proceed to hit "UnleashX"

That's why my xbox still boots to the M$ dash by default.

Basically I have some extra files sitting on one of my xbox drives (I think it installed to C drive).

When I finally manage to get SID 5.11 on my memory card and try to install its softmod, will it detect something on one of my drives and abort?

If so could you please specify how I can take the steps you suggested to check for it? Or just link me to another post that discusses how to remove all traces of softmods?

Thanks

If you can get the installer to run use its filemanager to check C drive. If you see files like Bert Ernie, SID5 etc those are mod files and just hit remove softmod, then reinstall the softmod.

If you dont see those files its either been R.T.S or has a shadowC. Use the shadow C disable feature then proceed like above. If it says no softod found/shadowc found then you got RTS and its just a matter of reinstalling.

As long as the mod files didnt get overwritten it should be able to cold boot a burned disc (power on with disc already in). And allow you to go the XBMC Installer route which is easier and I have lts of vids how to use it. And if you were running SID before its an easy chance to update to the latest version.
