Hidyho,
I've had my Xbox softmodded for a few months, and it has worked quite well. Today, I was FTP'ing over an emulator package (xboxemu.iso is the source file) that I had downloaded by torrent. Close to the end of the job (2GB/2.2GB) the xbox froze. Upon hard resetting it, I get an error 21, which Ive never had.

Any ideas? Im totally stumped by this and Im not looking forward to restoring from backup.

I have no access to the xbox through ftp, and I've lost my original installer CD. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you for the reply. Do you know if there is anyway to save my data, specifically the savegames and the F/E drives? Hotswapping seems to remake the harddrive, and lose the partition table. Just wanted to check before I went ahead - its not a disaster.

PS Also, any idea why it would suddenly lose the dash files? I'd been using the box just fine for several months and in the middle of the FTP upload it froze. Bad HD?

Can you boot from a game? If so hopefully you still have the gamesave you modded from on your box.

For the original softmod I rented the game. I don't actually have any games that arent on my PC HD or the XBOX HD.
Sad Sad.

If you can boot from a cd, and you still have the original softmod gamesave, you can just reinstall your dash from there.

Went and rented SplinterCell, no love at all. Would not boot to game.
Going to go ahead and hotswap it.

Or u could buy a mod chip and then you could boot up a UnleashX boot cd and FTP the dash over, and wouldn't lose anything.
