I have an unmodded xbox, and when i turn it on, it will play the animation. and then hang on the XBOX LOGO screen for about 2 minutes. Then the Microsoft logo pops up and it will go into orig. microsoft dashboard. I deleted all the gamesaves off it to see if that was slowing it down, and no luck. Is the a simple fix to this problem?
Thanks!

Is it the stock HDD in there? When drives begin to slow down, it could be a problem with the actual HDD itself. It could be on its way out. As hard drives get older and worn, they begin to show problems reading info off it, transfer speeds slow and eventually you may hear clunking noises from the unit.
Thats not to say that is definitely what it is, could just need a nice clean format and reinstall, but its worth baring in mind.

Yes it is the stock harddrive. It probably is going out. I do have a couple of other HDDs with that make the god-awful click noise. I took one of them apart to see what it was and it seems to be like a control arm or something?? Is there anyway to fix those harddrives?

Do you have a masters in electrical engineering? If not then i dont think it can be done. Ive tried doing everything i could possibly think of when mine did it. I say just go out and get a new harddrive. Works perfectly if you have a chip and a copy of AID if not then HDM 1.9 works fine too _________________

Yeah, like Robzzombie said, there's no way to fix the drive once its like that, the control arm and needle are worn and unfocused so rather than move steadily from point to point, it clunks and jumps, missing the data.
So, looks like its time for a new drive with either a chip or softmod via Xboxhdm.
