I have ran a ethernet cable from our main computer to my room to my xbox using one straight through end and a crossed over end. When they are both connected my computer shows little bubbles down by the clock saying " a network cable has been unplugged" and " Local Area Connection is now connected Speed: 100Mbps" it keeps toggling between the two and wont stay connected. any ideas?

Could be a couple things, but likely its the cable, one might be a loose connection in one of the ends. Did you terminate the cable yourself? If so try re-terminating again. Also, how long is the cable?

Just make sure you have the right wires connected. Look at these diagrams:

Do you have any kinks or hard bends in the cable? Do you have a cable tester that you can use? Can you maybe test with something else like a router or a computer to ensure the xbox is fine?

The cables are wired right, no tester, and i know the xbox is fine because i have a shorter cable i bought pre made that i ftp with just thought it would be alot nicer to run a cable to my room instead of moving the xbox everytime i want to transfer movies and stuff
