I'm having trouble getting an American backup to play in colour. I managed to get it boot with one of the latest versions of EvoX, on my Softmodded Xbox (using one of the latest SID4 or whatever), but it plays black and white.
I changed the region in settings to Auto, Default, NTSC-A and the Japanese one, but all produce either the same results, or they don't boot at all. I noticed above that there was an option above that had PAL, but I couldn't change it. Is this the problem?
I had the same problem a few years ago with my PSX, but a Scart fixed that. Is it that easy to fix it with the Xbox?
Sorry if this is a commonly asked question, or one that shouldn't be asked at all. But I've searched a lot of terms, I'm just not too sure what I should be looking for.
Thanks for the time in advance.

I suspect your issue will be corrected simply by using Engimah Video Converter. You are attemtping to run PAL using an NTSC game, that's all. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Thank you for the reply.
I downloaded it and burnt it to a CD. I ran it and changed to NTSC, rebooted my Xbox and checked the EvoX settings to make sure it had worked, which it had.
My dashboard is black and white, so I booted the game, but it's still black and white. I tried changing the changable option to NTSC, PAL, NTSC-J, auto and default with the same result.
think I need to buy a cable or something?

Odd. Damn, so you verified that your Evox is set to default and Engimah isn't doing the region change on your softmod. Can you install XBMC as an application and see if that makes a difference? I'm just wondering if Evox isn't handling the issue properly. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

no, enigmah is changing the settings. there's like two? one that's variable and one that's set (this is in the evox settings after using enigmah). it's changed the top (set) to NTSC instead of PAL, but when I changed the variables to anything it doesn't do anything.
I've got XBMC installed, so I used the converting thing to change it to NTSC, set the second one to auto, loaded XBMC, went to 'my files', went into the disc drive, clicked default.xbe, the game loads but once again it's in black and white.

Golly, what game are we messing with? Perhaps we need a patch to make it perform properly? They are far and few between when Enigmah won't fix it and since you've done this before, I have to presume that it's a game specific issue. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Psynaughts? Psychonaughts? I can't remember the name. I just hope the Internet police aren't watching
And no. This is the first backup I've tried playing.

Of course I realize that you own the original version, so having done some homework, nothing indicates that any special procedure is needed in order to run a backup of that game. Psychonaughts [NTSC] might need to be reburnt, preferrably using Nero at the slowest speed possible and see if it will work for you. You might also try a backup of a PAL game first, get the hang of it, then attempt to burn and play this one again.
One last thought would be to use DVD2Xbox, place the game on your HDD and see if that makes a difference.
One last stretch, try clearing your Cache on the E drive. A previous game may be interfering with you ability to play this one in it's proper format.
In fact, try clearing the cache first. It's the fastest thing to do. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Okay. Thanks for the time. I'll try it in the next few hours and post back if it works.

I tried clearing the cache, but still no luck.
I was wondering, if the dashboards are black and white (both evox and XBMC) then surely it's a hardware issue, and not a problem with the game itself?
