Ok, i'm having a prob modding my friend's old Xbox....I flashed the chip with the EvoX M7 and it verified fine....i soldered the LPC holes open and put in the pins, i seat the chip on the holes i use to flash onto the pins i soldered to the MoBo....i soldered the BT from the MoBo to the Chip and i find 2 different pictures on the web showing me 2 different D0 points (they might not matter...)
I solder the D0 point to the chip and it boots to the M$ dashboard normally but i can't play backups....I solder the D0 to ground and it FRAGS....any sujestions on wut i'm doing wrong? pictures would be helpful...TIA

it may just be a media issue. If you are positive your modchip is installed correctly and have the bios flashed then it has to be a media problem.
Most xboxes only read a certain brand of media..
It really depends on what xbox DVD ROM drive you have in it.
SAMSUNG is the best and can read CDR's..
All other DVDROM's for xboxes have to burn CDRW or DVD-R etc.

If I am not mistaken, I have seen another post where someone had a similar problem to you. I also believe they were trying to use the M7 bios. I think they switched to the Xecuter2 4983.67 and they seemed to have better luck with that...
Forahobby is right about the media too...but, just thought I would throw that out there in the event you get no luck with different media. I too have had issues where I had flashed a chip with a certain bios and it wouldn't read my autoinstaller disk...but, as soon as I flashed it with another bios it launched the same disk. Don't ask me why!! Most hacked bios' should allow your xbox to run unassigned code so you would think they all would launch readable media.
You say that your xbox is booting the MS Dashboard, have you installed Evox or any other homebrew dash??? If your chip is flashed properly it should be launching EvoX if all is working correctly. I am not sure how far you have went with software yet in your mod.

Well...I haven't installed EvoX dashboard yet since i can't get it modded....
I'll Flash it with the Xecuter2 4983.67 BIOS and hope that works....I also noticed that the blue LED on the Chip doesn't turn on even when i plug in the USB adaptor and try to flash it through my laptop BUT yet it's recognized by the program and it's flashed and verified; is there a chance that the problem is the LED and not the chip?
One more thing: which of the pictures show the correct placement of the chip?

On my xbox 1.6 i Used the second image and it works fine; maybe this one is different? Please advice if you know.....Thanks
