I am trying to get into my xbox but can't seem to. I am using Avalaunch, and have tried several FTP servers, but this particular message comes from FlashFXP. I use the correct user/pass combo, and it connects, checks user name and gives me the illegal login. Am I supposed to do anything else? I am able to download, i checked this today by downloading 2 updates and that worked fine. I am about ot try to connect to a game and see if that works. I just cant get in! I am connecting through a router, but its not wireless.

Help!

Here is the sequence of messages I get from FlashFXP
[R] Connecting to 192.168.1.105 -> IP=192.168.1.105 PORT=21
[R] Connected to 192.168.1.105
[R] 220 secondary AVA-FTP Server ready.
[R] USER xbox
[R] 331 Password required
[R] PASS (hidden) <----xbox
[R] 550 Illegal login.
[R] Connection failed

also the type of cable you use is very important as well.

Yes, I confirmed it, it Avalaunch. Yes, I know about cables and all that, and the light is coming on and I updated the dash through the Web so I am quite sure I am connected, but it wont let me FTP. I have done it before, but with a different xbox.

ok so the light is green so the xbox is fine , you can connect with the xbox then its just a matter of settings on the xbox and the pc .

read my sig maybe it helps fellow step by step just forget about the type of wires and fellow everything else. if that doesnt help then change your ip from static to dhcp and then put the passwords and the user id on the flashfxp and voila it should work...

you are using flashfxp right? check my sig Razz

I have done those things, what you have told me is stuff that I have already done before and, on another xbox, it worked. My problem is I dont know anything past what your basic tutorial, so "adjust settings" means nothing to me Sad
I don't know what should be enabled, diabled, ect on the Xbox IP setting or flashFXP. I am sure it is somthing pretty simple, but past the most basic walkthrough, I know nothing about FlashFXP. Maybe if you could tell me what needs to be enabled/disabled I could change some of the settings. Thanks for bearing with me Very Happy

Gus, he's already told you 3 times. It worked before but it's not working now. Stop directing people to tuts only. If you can't help them then don't reply.

Turbonan, try to reset your settings in Avalaunch to get a new ip address and try again. Did you ever change any settings in flashfxp? everytime I see a post with people having trouble with ftp, it tends to have an ip address with more than 1 number at the end. Usually the ip address would be something like 192.168.2.x, but when I see an ip address that has 192.168.2.xxx it tends to not work correctly. Like I said try resetting the network settings in Avalaunch and try again.

thanks for your help. I finally just cheated and installed a different dash, and it worked. I am sure it was just a simple settings issue, but since I could not figure out how to reset the ip settings, I installed a different dash (figuring that would certainly reset the ip settings) and it worked! I am into my xbox right now with flashFXP, so thanks for the tip.

well for future reference, if your gonna use avalaunch, you can edit the config.xml's ip settings if they wont change in the settings menu.

tutorials dont solve everything, you forget there are certain variables that are never accounted for in a tutorial.
