My Debug Kit is for sale on Ebay, I Decided to sell it because I couldn't play retail games, and I didn't really want to buy a ModChip.

Hey! If anyone asks about BIOS for it, they can check out http://www.gueux.net/modules/news/article.php?storyid=2714. That's where I found what appears to be a BIOS for it. I can't be certain though, as I don't speak French!

It'll be interesting to see what it goes for! It wouldn't surprise me if it either didn't sell or sold for a ton of money... you just never can tell! I picked up two Timex-Sinclair computers along with some programs (stored on audio tape!), memory expansion kits, and some miscellaneous junk for $15 at a garage sale. I figured I'd sit down and play with it one day. I never did and it gathered dust in my garage. I listed it on ebay because I didn't feel right trashing them. I just hoped some collector would get something he needed. I broke the lot up and listed the stuff individually, with a starting bid of like $1. I sold everything! Total in sales was over $100. Now I look for Timex-Sinclair computers at every yard sale I attend! LOL!

Does M$ go ape-sh*t when people sell stuff like this? They seem to be so damn possessive! I'm sure Bill Gate$ has an entire group of people looking for Xbox Development Kits for sale on ebay! I don't see what the big deal would be about an Xbox Debug Kit that can't play Xbox games, but who knows?

Does anyone know why someone who legally obtains an Xbox Development Kit can't legally sell it (at least this is what I've heard)? Is it some sort of licensing issue? Does the Xbox Debug Kit have similar restrictions???

You may want to edit the listing. I'd recommend removing the line about "modchip". Ebay is the Modchip Gestapo. Any Xbox that hints at being modded seems to get cancelled. I almost picked up some modded Xboxs at cheap prices, but they always got cancelled before completion (search for "special xbox" etc. on ebay). I even saw an auction get cancelled for selling modchip information! So much for free speech!

If you run into problems with ebay, maybe you could try relisting it as a "Buy It Now". Someone could snag it before ebay knew what hit 'em! Only trouble is then we don't know what is the maxium people would pay for one.

It's amazing what people buy on ebay, and what they don't for that matter.

Last year when I moved into my new home I decided to nix the Dish Network as at the time, they wanted an arm and a leg to convert one room to HDTV, install my two DVR's, and one basic receiver.

They wanted over 1300.00 to do my move!!

Cable did it all for free, and gave me a HDTV DVR Receiver to boot! Not too mention I now have six rooms with cable instead of only 4. They also gave me $25.00 credit per month for 16 months for converting over from dish!

The two DVR's that I had I got from a promotion over 6 years ago called Digital Dynamite. They were the Dishnetwork PVR 7200 receivers with the build in Web TV interface (they sold the wireless keyboars for 42.00) I got them for $12.00 from some promo, cant remember. Anyway, these Dishplayers, as they were called, also required a $9.00 per month fee for the program guide, sorta like TiVO. The new PVR units that Dish offers have the technology built in and require no additional fees, plus they have HD's that are larger. My dishplayer was only 12GB!!

At the time, Dish Network was selling the PVR501 for 299.00 or 199.00 and a 12 month commitment to the Top 150. When the Dishplayers were brand new, they sold for $179.00

I listed my Dishplayers starting at $50.00 with no reserve. They both sold for over $350.00 EACH!!!

I could not believe that someone paid that kind of money for a six/seven year old antiquated piece of machinery, let alone two of them! Needless to say, I did my best to find as many Dishplayer 7200 Receivers as I could find! My friend who also switched to cable after he bought his home gave me his since he had no use for it! It also sold for almost $400.00!

Later all!

Wow! I just checked and it has a $300 bid (by someone with decent feedback, too!). The bidder must know something we don't.

I'm also a little confused about the title of the auction "Microsoft Xbox Debug \ Development Kit" ... Is there a difference between this thing and the Xbox Dev. Kit? Does this thing have the software needed to develop Xbox games? If it does, i may have to get in on the bidding! I thought this was just the Debug kit, but I probably don't understand the significance.

The following message is an attempt at humor (humour).

Overly-sensitive people of the following nationalities should just skip over this post:
American, Hispanic, Indian, French/French-Canadians/Non-French Canadians, Australians, English, Japanese, Chinese, & Finnish. Germans & Italians may also be offended as I've failed to include them.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Are you STILL reading? YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
American gets me by in the USA. Canada is somewhat unique in North America and monolinguality just won't do. And, for the record, English AND Spanish have NEVER been the main languages, just as "universal" languges like Esperanto and Pig Latin have never been universal. The Bible says it has something to do with that Tower of Babel thing we built a few years back. But, anyway, there are more non-English/non-Spanish speakers in the world than anything else. In the USA, most Americans speak American.

The trouble is, what languages do you pick?

The only time my high school Spanish pays off is when I want landscaping done or when I want to order a drink from a waiter whilst hanging out on Miami Beach.

Hindi would certainly come in handy whenever one needed technical support, as every company in the USA routes their tech support lines to India. It would also make New York City cab rides more interesting.

I learnt a little French on my last trip "Up North". The most important phrases were "avec fromage" & "sans plumb". I also learnt a little Canadian, which is rather similar to English & American. Instead of ending a sentence with a period, they end it with "eh?".

When I'm bludging back of beyond and need a tinnie, Australian is pretty handy. (Ha! Bet you thought I was gonna say something about "throwing another shrimp on the barbie!)

I need to brush up on my English apparently. In London, whenever I said "Hello" to a stranger on the street, I'd get back shocked looks. I'm beginning to wonder if it means "I'm a pedophile... could you direct me to nearest elementary school?"

I have a friend who recently visited Japan. If someone cuts you off in traffic, you could yell "Ž„‚ÌŽ€‚ñ‚¾”n‚ðH‚ׂȂ³‚¢" (sorry! Kanji doesn't appear to be showing up properly), which has something to do with eating dead horses.

Beyond 'General Tso Chicken', 'Moo Goo Gai Pan', & 'Cream Of Sum Yung Gui', I'm afraid I know no Chinese. The one phrase I'd really like to learn is "Can you direct me to the Xbox factory? I hear they're cheaper here than in Finland!"

Unfortunately these are all true excerpts from my sad little existence or the life of a friend.

My only collections of a day trip to Elizabethtown were of a McDonald's and a gas station. My wife (who had French in high school) chickened out and ordered a "Big Mac", which happens to be French for "Big Mac". I hate Big Macs. She told me "I think 'fromage' is cheese". So I ordered something like a "Quarte Livre Avec Fromage" and I got my beloved Quarter Pounder With Cheese and life was good! On the way home, the gas station attendent kept saying "avec plomb" and "sans plomb". From my French lesson at McDonald's, I knew "avec" meant "with". I knew that a "Sans Serif" font was without decorative lines and figured "sans" must mean "without". Oh my god! Do I want my gas with or without "plomb"? What the heck is "plomb"? My wife didn't know. I recalled from my Inorganic Chemistry class that "Pb" was the atomic symbol for "lead" and it stood for "plomb-something-or-other'... He wants to know do I want leaded or unleaded! I confidently replied "Sans Plomb!". We made it home, so I figured I was right!

Can any Londoners explain why my "hello!"s seemed to shock everyone? It's like I invaded their personal space. Maybe you're not supposed to greet people you've never been properly introduced to? They also looked at me rather strangely on the underground because I always laughed my ass (arse) off when I heard the announcement to "Mind The Gap!", but it just seemed so surreally British. If they cared enough to make this announcement in New York City, they would probably just say "Don't fall in the crack, Stupid!".

My friend who visited Japan had many interesting stories to share. I've never been to Japan, but I get a newsletter written by an American who has been living in Japan for several years. He described Japanese toilets one day and it totally grossed me out. I told my friend about and she totally DID NOT believe me! I googled and found http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~AD8Y-HYS/movie.htm. If you've never seen a Japanese toilet, you really owe it to yourself to click on that link. She freaked when she saw it! She confirmed that many toilets in Tokyo are like this, but a few are Western-style. She refused to use the "local" toilets. Before she left on her trip, I'd often told her she was full-of-sh*t, but when she came home, she was, quite literally, full-of-sh*t!

Oops! It appears that the period got included in the link above and it won't work... try this one... http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~AD8Y-HYS/movie.htm

Also, I forgot to mention, at the gas station in Elizabethtown, when the gas station attendent asked me "Avec Plomb" & "Sans Plomb", I almost blurted out "Avec Fromage". That would have made his LIFE! He'd tell all his friends "So dumb-ass American wanted me to fill up his tank with cheese!" (of course, being French, he wouldn't have said it in English).
