Hi Folks,
Im living in Japan, but I have brought my UK PAL xbox over with me.
Though because the xbox is PAL and my TV is NTSC, they are not compatible.
I was reccomended Enigmah NTSC-PAL Video Switcher, but I'm just wondering if this applies to only the games (allow foreign games) or whether it changes the output TO the TV?
Has anyone out there tried to do this??
All I want to do is play my UK games in Japan on a japanese TV. At the moment all i have a black and white rolling screen.
Also, do I first need to mod the Xbox before Enigmah will work?

Yes you will need to mod your xbox before you can run the homebrew software.. (Enigmah X).. Modchip or softmod will do.
Once you have it modded you can boot the enigmah software so you can change the output type so it will display correctly on the TV instead of just rolling pictures..
Just remember before you leave to set it back up how it was.. If you tv back at home doesnt support the NTSC format you will only get black&white rolling too..

Ah thanks very much for your help, I have been traulling the internet for that answer. So i guess that I have to set up all the software kinda blindly right? It's difficult to work out what one menu is from another, which makes it difficult to choose. maybe Ill keep trying on like a million TV's until I find one that is not so bad. Its a lot of hassle just to play the box in another country, but its still cheaper than buying tv converter boxes - they are soo expensive, plus i get a lot more out of a chip right!

im sure there are screenshots here already to show you what you need to do once you get enigmah booting..
Ill have a quick hunt for you now..
I added the pics for those guys who accidentally changed their settings (REGIONMODE) and then found out that their tv's didnt support it..
They could see the screen to change back so i added some pics somewhere.. loil. I just have to find them now!

Exactly.. Modchip is the way to go.. You can always recover easy with a modchip.. With softmodding its a drama!

i only have one more question, if you would be so kind.
When I buy the modchip, and put it in - (looking at a Xecuter 2.6 CE Solderless) can i run enigmah first or do i have to go through the whole flashing the chip 1st??
I would like to see what im doing when preparing the box, so I'd like enigmah on before messing with the chip.
What is first for me Enigmah or flashing the chip/prepping the xbox?

Hi,
You always need to FLASH YOUR MODCHIP before you can boot backups, autoinstallers or any other homebrew apps on your xbox like enigmah video selector..
So you will need to:
1. Install your Modchip
2. Flash your bios with the appropriate bios for your modchip (probably the evox m8 bios)
3. You could then download enigmah video selector by itself and then burn it to a DVD-R/CDRW and boot in your xbox once its modchipped/flashed.. Its much smaller then downloading the full AIDeluxe .iso file..
OR
4. Download the AIdeluxe .iso file and boot in your xbox. It will let you install a HACKED DASHBOARD (evox, unleashx, xbmc) and play games from your hdd.. You could then install the ENIGMAHX app to the xboxhdd from AID.. Simple.. Then boot your xbox with the new dashboard and choose to boot ENIGMAH X from the hacked dashboard (evox, unleashx, xbmc) main menu.

Ok, thats cool. In your opinion, is it possible to flash the modchip blindly? haha - i love the way i make life difficult for myself haha

just make sure you always have a cromwell bios (FLASHBIOS) still left on one of your banks.. This is just so if you accidentally flash with the wrong bios you can always boot back to the FLASHBIOS BANK by flicking the switches etc et..
Im sure the x2 has multiple banks so you can flash to a different bank each time or boot from a different bank.
Know what i mean.. In otherwords.. When you get your modchip, it will be flashed with a cromwell bios running FLASHBIOS.. This allows you to flash other banks of your modchip.. So dont flash over the top of the flahbios unless you can help it coz if you have probs you may need to purchase a x2 programmer.
anyway, just keep at it.. Start a new topic too..

dono if this will help but in uk ntsc games play in colour if u can connect ditectoly into the yellow phono socket without going through the scart adapter or you can buy a betta cable wich can go into scart in colour. So basicly wat im saying look if any of your tvs have the phono sockits just while you do the mod

Ah i tried the yelllow plug into the back of the tv, it didnt work just a rolling screen - infact at the moment its the only way to connect to the tv. Japanese tv's are NTSC and because of that they cant use a scart lead - some of the new ones with huge mega price tags can do both.

Hi all, my prob is almost the same, i live in mexico, my tv is ntsc and my xbox is the same, a friend of mine lend me a copy of dakar 2 but i think is PAL the only way i can run the game is if i select to run it in PAL mode but it is in black and white, will the Enigmah work here? do i have to flash the bios also or just download the prog to the xbox and run it from there
