Hi All!
Sorry, I'm really new to this modding stuff. I'm trying to mod my xbox with the Easybuy2000 x-chip and they didn't send me the pin header and rivets with the mod board (sorry, I'm not up on the latest lingo for this stuff). I have the 1.6 version of the xbox and I got the x-chip and soderless adapter (but evidently it doesn't work with the 1.6) so I wrote to easybuy2000 about the missing parts and they won't get back to me. Does anyone know where I can get these parts? I've looked at my local stores here (like Radio Shack and such) with no luck. Any suggestions?
Thanks for your time Smile
Bonkernm

Can I take a pin header out of an old computer? If it's too long can I cut it?

I wouldn't recommend it. The pinheader setup is specific to the Xbox, however you should still be able to solder (a little more difficult if it's a V 1.0). I'm not familiar with the chip itself, but it seems to me the pinheader install isn't mandatory, at least it isn't with the Xenium.
Did some homework, first I got this message from the site:

Quote:
Dear Easybuy2000 Visitors & Customers,

We wish to inform you that we are in the process of relocating our servers to a new location. Our website and shopping cart will be down until further notice.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and will work hard to get back online as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,

Sincerely,

The Easybuy2000 Team

Then I went to another link. Seems that there are two versions, one for $49 without the adapters and one more expensive that includes the adapters. Which did you buy?

I bought the x-chip combo. Came with the x-chip and soderless adapter but in the installation instructions you have to figure out which version you have and I have the 1.6 xbox. It said that if I have the 1.6 the soderless adapter won't work with it and I have to use the 12-pin header and soder it to the LPC port then rebuild the LPC port for power. The instructions I'm using came from easybuy2000.com's website.

Hi Bonkernm,
I think you were mislead by the guide you are using, the guide you should use is "Solderless 1.6 Adapter Installation Guide" from the easbuy2000 website.
Just be careful and don't make the same mistake I did, install the correct bios before you plug the xchip in and power up. I used the "xchip_v1.3-1.6box_only.bin" I downloaded from xbins and it works perfectly. Should be able to work it out like everyone else, have fun.
Also use x-control with a usb connection to program the x-chip, you have to 'load raw' from x-control, then 'write all' to the xchip, that completely rewrites the x-chip, 4mbs worth.
