My aladdin live has been pre-flashed, it can work on v1.6 xbox, but I want to try flashing it by myself. But I got problems in flashing it.
I have 3 problems about Aladdin Live & programmer :
1. Although I connect all the cable and chips right (I can see the blue led light), the Aladdin Live programmer software cannot detect the chip. Therefore, I can't flash the chip by programmer.
2. I installed the chip into my xbox this morning, I can now short press the power button to disable the chip, press the power button until the led is orange to enable the chip to flash protected. But I cannot enable the chip to flash enabled, as I can't see the led is flashing when I am pressing it. I keep on pressing the power button but the led don't go into flashing.
3. In http://www.aladdinlive.com/aladdin_live.htm web page, there are the steps showing how to flash without programmer. But I don't know how to "power on the modified XBox in Flash-Mode".
Up to now, I can play the retail games with chip disabled and backup games with chip enabled properly. What I can't do is flashing the bios neither by programmer nor flash mode.
Can anyone give me some suggestions to solve my problem?

Am sure I mailed you the answers, but here is a brief answer.
Use both LPT port and the supplied USB cable to connect your programmer to your PC.
Choose the correct port for the programmer.
You power light will not flash unless there is bad soldering. Just hold in your pwr button for a few secs and it wil go from green to orange...
Choose the menu as follows
System Utils
Flash Bios
Then press Y as it will tell you on the screen.
Remember you can only flash your Bios in the Xbox if you have an alternative Bios there already.
I give everyone the same advice...
If it ain't broke: don't fix it.

thank for you reply.
I have tried in 3 pcs having LPT port and the supplied USB cable connected to the programer and chose the right LPT port 378.
But none of the aladdin software can detect the chip.

"Have you received a chip recently? You may have been sent an Aladdin Live+. If your programmer has both USB and LPT connected and you have set the correct port and it doesn't detect the chip Click here you need to add one wire temporarily to reprogramme your chip. This is to make the chip compatible with the new Xbox 1.6A & B versions."

Hi guys,
sorry for not getting to reply any sooner, but I've been down with a bitch of a bug.
Today I managed to reply to most of my PM's before in my infinite wisdom I pressed delete all, well I was on the second page and had answered all on that page and thought no need to mark them as the whole page is done... but it deleted the unanswered messages on page one too.
I answered the older questions first so if I ignored your PM I apologize.
But anyway on to the solutions.
The problems quite a few people have had is because there is actually two different versions of the 1.6 box, the techie calls them A & B.
The Aladdin XT as with original Aladdin Live works fine with 1.6A, but with 1.6B a switch is needed on the XT. For the Aladdin Live a plus version was made. The factory did not tell me they shipped me the Live+, I didn't know therefore I was shipping it to my customers. For this again I apologize.
The solution to make the Aladdin Live? work perfectly on every Xbox as it should can be found at www.aladdinlive.com/mod. It requires only one wire between programmer and chip, then use the programmer to load one of the BIOS from the website. It won't matter which version of Xbox you have, you'll have to flash the Aladdin Live+ this way to make it work.
After which you'll not ever have an Aladdin problem again.
For those of you who don't have a programmer there is a new version of the Live+ coming within the next week. This chip doesn't need this extra wire method and I will happily replace any mod.
Hope this helped.
