Hello freaks!
I m a noob who wanted to install linux without a modchip.....
so my problems have begun (sry for bad english... serbian boy...
- at first i realized i had the 1.5 xbox with 5659 dash
- i downgraded it to 4... dont rember excactly....
since this bad day 4me.. i always get the error 16 while turning on da box
- and i didnt backup my hdd password
- now i have an aladin modchip in, but still no way to undo the error
i tried to install evox bios, evox itself, update back da dash.... but no chance, because of the error, or when put the disk in my pc, the password...
what can i do
plz help....

sounds to me like you have corrupted the XBOX C: DRIVE PARTITION.
The Xbox-Hq AutoInstaller will format and repartition any xbox Hard Drive including your retail one..
I would suggest downloading it and then burning the Autoinstaller to a DVD-R or CDRW so you can boot it.. You must although already have your modchip working to boot this XISO..
once you boot this application it is as simple as pushing a couple of buttons and restarting your xbox.. Thats it.. It should be fixed..
Another thing:
If you have a friend with a modchipped xbox just put your errored XBOX HDD into his xbox and then boot the autoinstaller to format it again or just copy the M$ Dashboard (Retail) back on again..

well, i`ll try it with da autoinstaller, but i think it wont go, cause the error always comes, doesnt matter if there`s a original game in, or a burned cd with da slayers auto installer...
about the chip: i think he works, but i cant test, cause the error i think it works, because if i turn on with a short tip @ power button, then starts da origina xbox intro... u know what imean... and when i put the button for about five seconds( that should start the "flashin bios mode" it come only MS logo, without the intro...
The chip is a aladin advance, i think.
well if it works, i will let u know...

i had the same problem. i think? mine would boot to the HQ-slayer, but it would not install anything. It would act like it ,but none of the numbers would move like it does when installing the dashboard they would just read zeros for all partitions.
I ended-up buying a new 80 HD Drive and then using Hq-autoinstaller worked great.
did you flash the bios?
dose it boot to M$ dash or play retail games?
sounds like you locked your self out of that drive
That Aladdin advance chip is cheap you get what you pay for. i bought it first, trying to save money didn't really no what to buy. i thought all chips where the same there not.
So after fraging my box i bought the X2.3b-plus chip. you get switches for on/off, pro/unpro, 2banks and it's soldier-less _________________ -RyBack

well, i didnt flash da bios, cause i had da error problem before "installin" my modchip ..... so when i try to boot in "flash da bios mode" (hold da power button for 5 sec. till da led blink...), i get da same error...
and i bought a new hdd! 80 GB too
i ve prepared it with da hddprepare tool... and i left her unlocked, cause i dont know my hdd pwd!!!
but it still comes the same ERROR 16 service required.... even puttin in a original game cd, or a cd rw with slayer autoinstall, evox installer, hq installer, or left without cd....
every time ERROR 16......
question! is it possible to install EVOX (with slayer or hq auto) on my new hdd, but not if its in da xbox, i mean can i connect the new hd on my pc and then start the installation?????
i think thats the only way, cause
i dont have a backup of my MS DASH
i dont have a friend with a modded xbox
and i dont have i idea how else it would be possible!!
maybe i can sve my xbox only if i by a new motherboard with a new new XBOX 10GB hdisk.... dam... 80 dollars...

Ok if it's not booting to M$ dash with retail HD and chip disabled.
and it's not booting to disc with autoinstaller with chip enable with or with out retail HD and New 80gb HD.
Then it sounds to me (and someone correct me if I'm wroung)
that the chip maybe bad
bad flash on chip
bad chip install
bad D0 point
bad ground
because if you installed a new blank HD then put in a Hq-boot disc with chipp enabled it should have installed everything.
I had to flash my chip first be for everything useing the x2 programmer
If the Hq disc will flash your chip then it should have booted to it.
chip problem not mother board or HD's, i thinks.
you might look at a better chip before a new mother board.
The mother board does set the Password to the lucked drive.
but the new drive has no password or luck it's never benn on a xbox.

i will work on it, and yes da D0 point cable is hard to fix, sometimes it spring of da point wehere it should be fixed.... (u know what imean)

YO peoplez,
i cant do it... always da same error massage... well, i think da only way to get a full 5659 backup od the C: partition
It`s illegel usually, BUT
NOT for me, because i have the possesion of of a xbox with originally 5659 (once upon a time before i deleted)
so can anybody tell me where to find it???
