ok im new to the Xbox modding sceen, I have been reading tons of stuff dealing with bios and skins and mod chips... but i guess i still have a few questions so here goes....
i just orderd the x-bit mod chip... sodder free... now when i get this installed.. first i upgrade the bios?? ie the evoX?
After i upgrade the bios am i ready to play or do i have to add more software... like if i want to back up games to the hd or ftp software.. im just confused in the sequence to get my xbox modded.. i see there is a all in one file out there.. the Xbox Evox Autoinstaller 1.1 does this have everything i need? i start with the bios and then i can install other software? any help would be great!!!
thanks

Cool. When you get your xbit modchip installed all you need to do is download a bios (of your choice) and then flash your modchip with the instructions that should be provide with the chip.
Im sure all you have to do is burn the BIOS (.bin) file to a cdrom or dvd-r and popit in your xbox.. Follow the onscreen stuff..
if you have problems make another post..
We have quite a few members here with a xbit so just PM (private message) someone who has one if you feel you need to..

Seems your learning fast.. I would suggest you download the XBOX-HQ Auto Installer that DJB has made for us..
its fantastic.. It can do the following:
- Rebuild a Retail HDD on a XBOX (latest M$ Dashboard)
- UPgrade to Latest version of EVOX or Older Version
- Install XBMP (Xbox Media Player) and tonnes of other apps like
Linksbok (webbrowser), HDD Manager, etc, etc

Hey thanks for the welcome and the info.. the xbit has an external usb connection for transfering the bios.. so that should make it pretty easy... but im sure you will hear more from me....

Well i got the Chip installed, VERY EASY and updating the bios with the usb cable was a sinch..you get software that helps you do it and lets you format the bios to let you accept differty size bios. It has up to 2mb .. and you can have up to 6 differnt bios on it... Its very cool.. then i used the all in one CD to load up the rest of the software... i was up and running in about an hour... but spent alot of time playin... Now all i need is a nice 160 gig hd... LOL.. anyone getting rid of some used HD's ? dons't have to e 160 gigs...i will pay for them... i use paypal... let me know...

Right now Best buy has a 160Gig WD HD on sale for 99.00 after rebates...
it's 149.00 -50.00 rebates. I think that is about the best deal going right now for a 160GIG HD. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

But, if you didnt have xbox-hq.com's help how long do you think it would have taken you.. e.g. without the xbox-hq autoinstaller etc and all the downloads we have in the one place..
HOPE Your loving it like all of us and see ya posting in the forums when you get time.

I didnt feel like taking hours to learn how to solder and mod the xbox so i was looking around for someone to do it for me. I found http://www.xboxmodzone.com, they did some really good work. Everything they do is custom and i actually was able to speak to the person doing the mod through aim. One of their techs is usually online with the sn xboxmodzone. They did some great external work on my xbox as well. They do ligthing and custom jewels for the top of the xbox. I messed it up once cause the xbox fell off of the top of my entertainment system, and so i messaged their tech, and i called him, he walked me though dissasembing it and we were able to actually fix it over the phone. All that had happened was a wire had come loose when it fell. I highly reccomend these guys!
