I currently have a alladin live chip in my box. It is a version 1.0 box with a pinheader installation. Can i use another mod chip on the same pin header. And of course solder the other wires back to the new chip if required. I would like a new chip so my 160gig. drive can be fully formatted. I can not update the bios on my current chip. It was one of the batch that requires the alladin programmer. My goal is not to have to solder any wires on the xbox mother board, my soldering skills really suck. The guy that soldered my current chip is really skilled. So hopefully I can use the wiring in place on the board now. I was looking at the xecuter 2.6ce. Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks

Why would you want to replace your modchip when you could just flasnh it.. The Aladdins support a larger hdd you just need to buy a programmer to flash it..
Well really you dont need to buy a programmer you can flash from EVOX DASHBOARD but if it stuffs up you will need to buy a programmer anyway.
Just flash your aladdin with the EVOX M8 bios.. This will enable you to run a 160gb hdd or larger..
Anyway, i wouldnt suggest removing the mod unless you absolutley have to.. If you change the modchip more then likeely you will have to play with the header.
Thanks for the reply. I currently have the m8 bios, but it does not have g enabled, I would also like to turn on the eject trick fix. I hate how it reboots in non chip mode every time you eject the currently playing disk.
This chip will not go in to flash enabled mode. I have flashed a couple of alladin xt chips with no problems using evox and eurasia. I had read that there was a batch of live chips that required the programmer and I must have got one. I just figured if I'm gonna spend the money for the programmer, for a few dollars more I can get a quality chip with a larger bios.
Thanks again

hi,
I have no problem with you wanting to upgrade your chip its just that most guys that ask this question have no idea how to soldier a modchip correctly and normally wreck their xboxes in the process.
It sounds like you want to edit the BIOS so you can customize it for your own good but if you want to install a new modchip sure go for it.. Im just hoping you know how to soldier pretty well..
Another tip... Have you tried PBL BOOT LOADER from AID2??
It loads bioses from the XBOX HDD on Startup.
Its a bios loader..
I have done 5 or 6 softmods with autoinstaller deluxe(great program) I have always used nkpatcher for the mods. How exactly does the pblbootloader work with the mod chip? Does it work in conjuction with it, or just over ride it. This sounds like something worth trying. And yes you are correct I really don't want to solder on the xbox. I can solder the pads on a chip but I can already picture the traces lifting on my xbox.
Thanks for your help

PBL overrides the modchip... I run debug or normal..
It works like a charm but sometimes is a little bit of mucking around to get going..
