Hey all, wondering if anyone has any extensive knowledge of some USPS polices and procedures...here's the bonehead move I made.
I sell a lot of hard drives on Ebay and today pulled a serious mistake. Today I shipped a 250GB and 200GB HD to a customer who had already received his order. (He bought two HDs from me and I shipped them last week)
Basically, what happened was I forgot to mark the HDs as being shipped in my Ebay "Sold" information. When I was packaging hard drives last night I saw that an order that should have already went out was still in my queue, so I panicked and boxed some up in effort to get them out first thing this morning.
In my rush, I neglected to notice that my Stamps.com manifest already listed the shipment several days ago.
Needless to say, this person just got a second set of hard drives shipped out today...
Does anyone know if I can reroute the package back to me at my expense?? The package requires signature confirmation so there is going to be scanning involved, so I am hoping I can get the package held at its destinated Postal Office.
By the time I realized my mistake it was 10pm this evening and the PO could not be reached. I have tried to email the customer and so far no response. I got his phone number from peoplepages.com but it's a disconnected number. In a way I can believe this mistake as I am in serious need of a vacation...lol. I am just burned out so my concentration levels are just for shit.
What is most upsetting is, I keep incredible records...all I had to do was take twenty seconds and look at my manifest. I keep track of all serial numbers (in case someone says their shit is broke and sends me something other than what I sent them), DC numbers, and everything pertaining to the transaction for 6 months. After six months I shred the information.
I would like to believe that everyone is honest, but I have doubts that this person will send me back the hard drives. I could be wrong, but I woudl rather stop the delivery than test the honest notions of a stranger..lol.
Any info that anyone has, or if anything like this has happened to anyone here and they were able to do something about it, I would greatly appreciated the help. Hopefully, this will end without me being out two hard drives. Why oh why couldnt' have this just happened with a skin or something...man... it had to be hard drives....lol.

If anyone else ever makes this bonehead mistake, you need to fill out a PS Form 1509 (Senders Application For Recall Of Mail), as quickly as possible and your mail will be returned to you..
