well, this is what i've got. A v 1.2 xbox with xenium ice installed. Boots to xenium. Can lock and unlock hdd. Will not boot retail kernel or evox build 3935. Error 16
Any way to fix this without softmod?
Any help greatly appreciated!

I have just one question..
Have you tried using the Auto Installer Deluxe??
If not it will fix all your probs since you have a modchip fitted.. (thankgod)
Service Error 16
Info: Other files related with the dashboard or dashboard settings (specific dashboard error).
Solution: You may have corrupted dashboard files on your xbox hdd. Use the 'HQ Auto Installer Deluxe' to reinstall your dashboard.

Why would you want to softmod a chipped Xbox??
You have chipped your machine successfully? Also, assuming that since you cannot boot to evox, you have already installed evox?? How did you try this install? What bios do you have flashed to the mod chip? What version Xbox are you running, and what sized HD are you running.
If I had more info, I could definitely help you more.

I have a ver 1.2 with retail hdd. I've done a handfull of mods, but this one I had to mod because I was getting error 21. I have tryed aid101 and have successfully installed the msdash and evox but now both dashes boot with error 13. The drive is locked and I am booting from xenium ice chip. Have also tryed booting without chip.
Having a hard time with this one !!!!!!!

I would try just reformatting the C drive if you haven't, it still sounds like some of the files in conjunction with the dashboards are corrupt. I've already reformatted the c:\ drive, installed the m$dash and evox dash, still same problem.
However I don't get the error 21 anymore

That is just bizarre...
There is no logical reason I can think of other than your bios is looking to the F drive for the dash instead of the C drive..but, your MS dash should at least work.

What happens if you download the M8 bios for non 1.6 machines, open it up in EvTool and change the bios to boot to F...and then try installing an F dashboard instead of a C dash..
Just curious to know what would happen. I wish I had this machine in front of me. I would love to solve this one!
If you would be willing to ship it to my shop, I would look at it for free as a favor just to see what gives...lol.

I appreciate the offer, but I have the same problem as you! I'd like to figure out this problem too.
xenium o/s loads fine.
aid disk loads fine.
Evox dash and M$dash has problems. Haven't tried any other dashes, Not sure I like any others.
My main goal is the repair hdd to normal state and unmod. I'm doing this as a repair and have never had a problem like this!!!!
Very aggrevating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Might end up shipping it to you in pieces

tryed flashingf tsop with m$ bios using aid.
locks up when it gets to erasing, could I have a bad bios? It should still boot from xenium though, right?
Just keep getting digging this hole deeper, Maybe someone will fill it in

Sorry gave you the wrong error code.
Service Error 13
Info: Dashboard launch failed (due to missing/bad key, or anything else that would prevent it from running) and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed.
Solution: Lock the Harddisk if not done so. Try updating your M$ Retail Dashboard using the 'HQ Auto Installer v1.01'. or manually download and install one of the 4 different Microsoft Dashboard versions.
does this shine any light on the subject?
