Just picked up off of Yahoo. News agencies report Pope has died; no Vatican confirmation. I know this has nothing to do with our hobby, but considering how many people this may effect, I thought I would pass it along. I am not catholic, but I am saddened by the news none the less.
Godspeed Pope John Paul II. May your work of peace continue for all our sakes.

Clinging to life
Vatican denies reports the pope has died, but says his breathing is shallow and kidneys are failing. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

My daughter received her first holy communion today, along with being confirmed. It was very ironic that she would be having that ceremony today and the pope passing away the same day.
The priest used the bad news as a sprinboard to help the children not be so sad and/or nervous. He was awesome the way he approached it. He basically told the kids that having these ceremonies today was a priviledge because the Pope was standing next to God watching them all as they were doing this. You can tell the kids really took to it. He said, how many people can say they had the pope as a cheerleader rooting them on as they all did this. I was very cool.
My daughter was a bit nervous up to that point, but he seemed to ease her mind. There was this one very comical moment though. After she was confirmed it came time for communion. She was first in line and the kids practices receiving communion a few times last week. But, the priest handed her a triangle shaped host and she was used to the round ones so she didnt realize what was going on. She started walking away just looking at it.... it was quite funny. I had to get up and practically shove her hand down her throat to get her to eat it... she didnt' know what it was. Luckily, the priest has a great sense of humor
Attached is a pic I took after the ceremony. She looked so beautiful! I am very surprised how they do communiion and confirmation all on one day now. When I was younger we had communion in 2nd grade, and got confirmed in 7th.

Are more posts getting mysteriously deleted??
I'll have to look into this.
I personally do not see any reason to delete posts about the pope for crying out loud..
Wondering if there was a site rollback?
Sometimes that happens. I have seen my posts get deleted because of that.

that is horrible new tho, atleast they say he wasnt in pain, but also was aware of things
i hear that he is going to be a saint...i think he deserves that

Yes, he does...very much so.
Yes, there were a lot of complaints from many paritioners about the way they do the communion and then confirmation.
The way they did it today was, the children were confirmed FIRST, then received their first communion. Very different. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

I had chosen to put this on the off topic part of the forums. I don't know about the missing replies and hope that if someone is deleting them, they'd explain why. We've always been so open in our discussions that I would have a hard time believing someone would choose to eliminate responses.
If I recall, there was one response that I had seen from Loki shortly after posting what was at that point breaking news and his response is indeed gone.
I must say TheModGod that your daughter is a sweet heart. What a happy young lady! You must be doing well with raising her. You should be very proud. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

ModGod, that's really weird that you daughter got her first communion on the 2nd, cause my little brother had his this last Sat. too! It is also very sad that the pope passed away too, he will be greatly missed.
What I think is really strange is that if you get confirmed that young, you no longer have to attend CCD which I think is pretty stupid. I didn't get confirmed until I was a senior in high school!?! Weird...... _________________ XBOX v1.6c

My wife's family is very active in the church. Jenna will still be attending a lot of classes and functions in effort to teach her as much as possible so when she gets older she can make some decisions on her own in which direction she wants to go.
I went to Catholic School up until Jr. High. They say there are three things you should never discuss with people unless you are prepared to defend yourself... Politics, religion, and sexual preference.... Well, I won't say who I voted for.... I won't explain why I have issues with oranized religion....but, I will say my butt is exit only...
I still don't know who was deleting posts though. I have often found some of mine gone...not even in the trash.. Usually that happens because of a server rollback or something. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter
