I tried to install the spider chip and it didnt work. The LED on the chip and on the on/off switch lighted up but there was still the normal booting screen, not the screen asking for cromwell bios ( i didnt have the HD and the DVD drive plugged in yet)
The contacts between the pins and LCP holes seem not very good. The pins seem too big for the holes. However, I even tried pushing down the chip while powering up the xbox and it still didnt work.
Did anyone have similar problem? Spider chip is really a pain to install.

1) makes sure you are doing the correct install for your version of xbox and version of spiderchip.
2) also if you have a 1.6-1.6b xbox you will need to remove one of the pogo pins for a proper fit. check the spiderchip website for more info. _________________ [RIP Radio]

You should configure a signature so people know what your setup is. Can't really give you good advice if we don't know what you are installing into. I'll just shotgun you some info:

Thanks everyone for your help. It turned out that the wire for D0 is E, not D. I tried that and also I had to stuff cotton into the hole to tighten up the screw and it works now. Wat a pain!!!!!
I flashed it witth cromwell 2.4 found on this website and someone told me I shouldnt have done that =( cause it's a legit bios. I am downloading the auto-installer right now, so I guess I will try to run that and if I cant play backup games then I'll try to reflash the chip.
What'r your thoughts on this? What bios should I use if I want to reflash the chip? And is it possible to reflash the chip without hot swapping? Thanks.
My xbox is between 1.2 to 1.5 hehe Dont know which one exactly.

1) you didnt need to flash your chip with 2.4 cromwell because the spiderchip comes with its own version of cromwell on it.
2) you can use any of the following:
these are some of the more popular bioses
evox m8
evox m8plus
x2 4983
x2 4981
3) you may be able to flash your chip again from cromwell...if you can you will need to do a hot swap. _________________ [RIP Radio]

I am thinking of installing Linux onto the xbox and then use some programs to reflash the chip such as bioxx or raincoat. Is this possible?
The xbox boots up fine with cromwell right now hehe.
