I thought I should share this info in this forum. I recently swapped a 1.6 into a 1.0 case and blew more than a resistor! The only reason I can see for this would be the lack of these metal tabs which ground the MB to the case

I believe this caused the short which has now rendered a MB a 200GB drive useless.
Make sure you solder some type of metal tabs to the 2 posts that need to be trimmed to fit a newer MB into the older case, or swap the metal shielding if available. Also, the blue boxed post should be removed and the shieldind flatened, to make the case identical to the native 1.6 case.
