What a Rube Goldberg contraption this is!
First, I didn't realize soldering was involved. OK, I "got over it" and did my first solder job. I practiced with an old Sega Genesis motherboard until I felt a little comfortable.
The instruction manual isn't entirely clear. The first step says:
"Open the Xbox, remove the dvd drive and harddrive."
--- OK, no problem
"Solder the yellow and the orange cables to the mainboard."
--- rut roh, raggy!
"Attention: if you don't have Pc Bioxx or Nitroxx you don't need to solder this cable"
--- which cable... the yellow or the orange or both?, WTF is Pc Bioxx & Nitroxx? I decided to solder neither, since the solder point for both was very tiny.
"Solder the red cable to the front panel."
--- OK, I did it and it looks good! (at least to me it does)
I go through the other steps and when I fire it up.... error code 7!
HDD timeout. Is the IDE cable that came with it bad? The HDD were working prior to installation.
I'm gonna have to disassemble the dang thing... what Pain In The Asparagus it was to get the stupid thing together, anyway. I guess I need to check the IDE cable. Also, the front panel lights do not appear to illuminate.
Any ideas? Has anyone else installed this thing? Did you solder more wires than just the red?

hmmmm...not real sure bud. I'm not good at things I haven't done yet..HA. If I had it in front of me, I'd probably be more use. You should do a google on the parts you aren't familiar with....see if you can get a decent image of it.
Keep us posted, I can't wait to do mine!

Pc Bioxx appears to be a "future-proof" modchip. Nitroxx seems to be yet another modchip. NITROXx, interestingly enough, is an "erectile enhancer", whatever THAT means! Makes your banana more a-PEEL-ing? hahahahaha! _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

No, I haven't gotten mine yet. It was actually being donated to HQ and forahobby was going to forward it my way. I think he is getting the run around from the company that was going to supply it, so not sure when it will come.
I may just go ahead and order one. I sold my 1.5 black case xbox yesterday to a customer that absolutely had to have an xbox overnight...my kind of guy!! So, right now I am sitting on a Halo SE with a Xenium Ice, and the HD just got delivered today. I also just received a used xbox that was having dirty disk errors. I put a Samsung drive in it and it's good as new! So, I may go ahead and chip that one and use for the Xtender Case.
I'll check out the link.

Oh man, I am going to have a blast with that puppy!!
It looks fun! I gotta get one of these like now!
I haven't studied the pics that much, and not sure where your exact problem is, but one thing I would definitely do is check for continuity between your solder points and make sure that all is good there.
I'll see what I can come up with in the interim.

There's something I found, that's not in German, about the two things you asked...

I have installed an xtender kit on my xbox with 3 250gig WD hd's and I get errors as well... on the xtender website they suggest a lot of stuff but most of the general solutions surround the cable...
It appears that with 3 hd's you have to use an 80 pin cable or some bull like that...you also need to solder the yellow and orange cables and remove the red one. I know the yellow and orange ones are harder but they are required...
It is a little easier if you trim the wires so that the exposed part of the wire is real short. Also...the official website for the xtender is www.teamxtender.com
Mine still does not work with the harddrives but the buttons work...the harddrives power on but are not recognised. Still looking for a solution and will welcome any suggestions.

hey make sure you look at the point of soldering I made the same mistake you actually solder on the little thinging and not on the board itself. I have 3 250gigs and they work perfect.

Yeah the directions kinda sucked... O well. I soldered mine and everything seems to be fine but... I have only 2 Drives. A 160G and a 200G the 160G was the one I had in it before I got the xtender. Now I can hardly ever boot of it. I can boot off the 200G except that I aming having an issue loading a EVO X. I am going to download the Auto Inetaller and just redo it. But the other drive really pisses me off. I agree that the product is way over priced and its a little cheap. But it is a great idea. I just wish I could figure out why the 160G has problems booting. Any ideas?
